I'm stunned by how expensive everything is every time I go to the store. A bag of chips now costs more than $5? Mind blown.
Fair or not (and if Trump was reelected I still think inflation would be an issue), the party in power gets blamed when people are having pocketbook issues.
Verdict: Its going to be a bloodbath for the Democrats in two weeks.
Sincerely,
Rojo
PS. Don't get mad at me. Remember, I'm a long time registered Dem.
Ha ha ha ha hah! Just wanted to release a belated belly laugh.
So much for all the “red wave, red wave” talk. Would be pretty funny — unlikely as it seems at this point— if the Dems narrowly won the House s as well.😂
we're only a few weeks away from the latest realization that the Republicans don't WANT to nominate and elect anyone but trumpists. We go through this over and over and always come to the same conclusion. We can wish that m'aga will start voting for normals but they won't.
I think the problem is that primaries tend to incorporate the extremes of the two parties when general elections have to include moderated and independents. Moderates and independents seem to be tired of the extremes particularly to the right who are election deniers and trumpists. I think the GOP as a whole would probably prefer to nominate non-trumpists however their hands are tied because they are reluctant to go against Trump who has them over a barrel.

Yep.
After George W. Bush crashed the economy and facilitated McCain's beatdown in the '08 election, we went through a period where Bush's most die-hard supporters started acting like they had never even heard of him. The GOP elites rolled out the Tea Party astroturfing project, the base peeled off their Bush/Cheney bumper stickers, replaced them with "don't tread on me" and everyone moved on. Just like that, Bush was a RINO. The Iraq War? The innocent conservative base never supported THAT disaster. No sir. That was all RINOs and Hillary Clinton.
Some in the Republican establishment clearly feel that this time around is no different. Just build the people an exit ramp (DeSantis), stuff the last 6 years down the memory hole, and let the corporate lobbyists/conservative propaganda networks work their rebranding magic. Soon enough, all the Trumpers will will deny ever having worn a red hat.
Unfortunately for the GOP, Donald Trump has no plans to retire to his bathtub to paint doggies all day like Bush did. If you hitch your wagon to a rabid animal, you're going to have a tough time getting off safely when the time comes. The GOP built a genuine cult of personality around Trump, but many in the party still don't seem to realize this. They think the base can be reasoned with. In short order, they will have to reckon with reality. The knives will come out for DeSantis and any other Republicans who advocate for moving on from Trump. We're going to have the pleasure of watching a lot of crummy people beg, plead, and suck toes in hopes of being allowed back into the fold.

Desantis is unlikely to primary hard against Trump if at all. He can always try again in 2028 or later, but if he takes a shot against the “king” and fails, he’ll be unloved for a long time by the conservative base.
