Enough with this private school recruitment. When will CIF step in.
It's time for 2 state meets. Private cheating schools. Public schools.
Alternatively double the enrollment numbers for private schools so there's equity. Jserra should compete in DI if they can create a super team, recruit, and pull from anywhere.
Give us the courtesy of defining high school "recruitment". Because if parents and kids are searching for better resources and education and they are knocking of the doors of certain programs, then it's hardly "recruitment". Private schools are a business and at the cost of $20K+ a year, I would hardly think that a non-revenue generating sport like XC/Track is going to allow for much "recruitment" that you are insisting on. Get your facts straight before making such accusations.
Agree 100%. All kids should pursue better opportunities. Coaches make a massive difference with young athletes, and no dedicated athlete should be limited by the (often unqualified) coaches at the closest school to their current home.
Why don't " ANY " Cali kids stay instate these days? Is the coaching that bad?
Where would they go, for distance at least? No Cali schools appear to be competing at a high level nationally, besides Stanford and CBU. Cal Poly is making strides. Anyone else?
USC could care less about distance. UCLA is sanctioned, and supposedly doesn't give money or have the patience to develop freshmen. It's a shame that schools like SDSU, Pepperdine, Cal, UCSD, UCI don't invest more in their programs, or do they?
What teams do you guys think will make NXN in 2024 out of California?
What about individuals?
Especially regarding NORTHERN California.
The three horrible P's of high school XC: Prima donna athlete... Private coach whose own ego feeds the prima donna... Parent too blinded by the private coach who created the problem. I hope HS coaches avoid this. There's always those 2-3 private coaches that wreck everything. pic.twitter.com/H12R34GLkA
I was wondering what ML King has done to make it a tie with Mira Costa, and then I saw they raced on the 25th, and they were missing Zavaleta and Carlson.

Depends on if you are ranking just purely based on performances in big races, or you are allowing other insight as well. Both are valid ways to do it. In MLK's case, they have the best speed rated top 4 in the entire state: 186, 175, 171 and 170. But their returning 3rd man Lunetta has DNFed both their big races, but in both cases raced very well within a week. If he is healthy enough, they would rank higher than Mira Costa, if not, Mira Costa would. Making it a tie seems fair enough. But as I have said before, I see the rankings, but I really think of them in tiers. On Oct. 1, I don't think about splitting hairs between 1a and 1b, I just consider them in the same tier.
All the big California schools plus Crater Oregon slated to run next Saturday. Some top names not on the list. Holman, Caldwell, Bouie, Turk all no shows for top individuals with a chance ay NXN. Crater should win but hopefully a California team makes it close.
Rip Newbury Park dominance of Marmonte league. From 2017 until 2024 they ran the league on the boys side.
And their girls team won this year even after losing 5 varsity seniors. Oaks Christian girls won the league title last year but they lost some important runners like Godsey
Anyone know when was the last time the Oaks Christian boys won the league title?

Never in Marmonte League. Agoura dominated early once they joined, then TO and NP were strong and then NP dominated. They've had good teams for a couple years, but NP put the clamps on the division
I'm not sure what league they were in before that (Before like 2010 or 2011?), but it's hard to find results outside of big state meets. They had some ok teams around 2007-2010, but not sure if it was enough to win their league even if they went deep in playoffs.

I don’t think the chances of Holman, Bouie, Caldwell, or Turk earning an NxN bid will be ruined if they don’t race Clovis. Just look at Eli-Fitchen Young for example. He stayed lowkey and didn’t really race in many or any competitive races, but qualified after running 14:49 at state last season. I think they are more lenient on individuals than teams to be far.
