Your little white privilege opinion has been noted.
Did you notice how many Supreme Court Justices Trump appointed while the Communists tried bringing him down? Legendary moves. Must seriously frustrate some of you who can’t control everything
The Supreme Court ruled today that you can’t discriminate based on race but you can discriminate based on sexuality.
Only white christians don’t see a problem with this
No. You fail to see the difference between a person and a relationship.
I am reminded that St. John the Baptist was killed for opposing a particular relationship. He opposed the proposed marriage of a man (Herod) and a woman (Herodias). Herod had divorced his wife to marry Herodias, and Herodias had divorced her husband. There's more to it, but there are conditions that must be fulfilled to qualify as marriage in the eyes of many. But for the long history of man until only very recently, no major society held that a same-sex couple could constitute a marriage. And this reminds me that the Catholic Church, for example, turns away (in obedience to the command of Jesus: “What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder” (Matthew 19:6)) many couples who would like to marry because one or both of the betrothed had a prior sacramental marriage. They often instead wind up marrying in an Anglican / Episcopalian community (which was founded by King Henry VIII for that very reason).
And there is, in my mind anyway, a free speech issue, too. If I don't think your relationship is a marriage, forcing me to bake a cake congratulating you on your "marriage" is forcing me to lie.

Really, don’t you think many black Christians would also love to discriminate against gays?
And don’t you think there’s be many who don’t have a white or black or Christian horse in this race and are snickering at all the outrage all around, eg I can imagine delighted Asian atheists.

Don't kid yourself. Black people can't stand gays. They dislike gays more than they dislike Asians.
So Asian gays must get really really scared of big black dudes after dark. I’d be afraid too of a supposedly low IQ creature believed to hate my people.

You do know many black people are Christian, right? Especially the Southern, ghetto, redneck blacks who you think of when talking about African Americans.
Wrong racist pieces of garbage like you exist sucking the system dry with all your white privilege not wanting to give an ounce to minorities. That’s what I’m fighting. Happy to beat your old a$
Reported. Threatening another poster because you think you have that right. Talk about privilege.
Court Packer is so full of hate and anger he can not think clearly. The irony is that someone spreading so much vile, hate and aggression thinks he is on the right side of things.
I currently work full time as a math prof at a CC. We have a great admissions guy who recruits inner city kids of merit. Many of them end up in my various classes.
Ability in math has more to do with a student's ability go grasp semantics, rather than syntax. i.e., when a student understands math as a language, they can go far. It is easy to tell which students really get it. You can tell by what type of mistakes they make, how they develop the solution to a problem, etc.
Roughly half of the time, my student with the greatest aptitude is an urban black student in precalculus. I also teach Calculus III and Linear Algebra, and also developed our Differential Equations course, which I passed on to one of my colleagues. I have also taught all the Engineering Science courses, and the main sequence in Computer Science, including Data Structures.
The problem is, these urban students, if they resided in the suburbs and had wealthy parents, would have landed in Calculus III as a freshman. Instead, they reside in the city and often ride the bus 1 1/2 hours to school.
So how do we measure merit? If we are interested in a perfect meritocracy, how do we measure ?which student will have the greatest trajectory?
If two students have similar profiles, with one white and one black, I would say the black student is more likely to be a better choice. But, a more refined approach would be to use urban vs. suburban, or better yet, income.
I don't have all the answers, but the problem is a lot more complex than can be captured by sound bites and carious screeds on social media.

Why bet on black if it’s “roughly half the time”? Is it because black kids are a minority in your inner city student population?

How do you measure merit? You measure performance -not some arbitrary, subjective adversity-adjusted version of performance. Hold everybody to the same standard, no matter how "unfair" it is (even though holding everybody to the same standard is the very definition of fair). I think it's in everyone's best interest to help those who are struggling, but they still need to be held to the same standard. So no, you don't get admitted to colleges because of the color of your skin, or who you're sexually attracted to, you get admitted because of your abilities. This makes this issue a lot less complex than you're making it.

Random lotteries are also a lot less complex, so we might as well use that.

This is also an argument against the strictly socioeconomic version of affirmative action
Affirmative action discriminates by admitting students with lower grades over more qualified Asian students.
Legacy preference discriminates by admitting students with lower grades over more qualified Asian students.
Both discriminate against more qualified students.
So why has one incurred the wrath of white conservatives and the other has not,in fact they pretend the other doesn’t even exist.A confounding puzzle, right ?
Well not really, the answer lies in who is benefiting from these discriminatory practices.
Affirmative action benefits minorities and Legacy prefrence beneficiaries are 70% white.Therein lies the answer to the puzzle.
White conservatives are two faced hypocrites, they say for us whites benefits but for you blacks the finger.
Native Americans did say white man speaks with forked tongue.

AA discriminates based on race, legacy does not. Is this really so difficult to figure out? At most of these top institutions, the student body is only ~50% white. So despite what you racist idiots say, legacy admissions will affect more minorities than whites. Since all you care about is race, that should be great news for you.

One interpretation of this beautiful sentence devoid of any respect for grammar is, “White conservatives are two hypocrites with faces who say that for them, whites benefits, but for you, black is the finger”.

True, white conservatives are selfish bîtches fighting for themselves, just like all other groups.
