Bringing an indictment is impossible if there is no evidence of crimes, because grand jury (composed of 15 or so regular ole' citizens) would not vote to indict unless strong evidence is presented to them.

1/ Get in the news. It doesn't matter what they say about you but be outrageous and make sure people have something to tweet about. Any publicity is good publicity. The worst thing is to not have anyone talk about you. The best thing would be to run as trump's veep. Until he sends a mob to kill you, of course. That's bad.
2/ Be associated with Trump. That gains you trust in m'agaland and eases your fundraising.

I put the most credence in your second reason. Playing to the base wins votes.
If a Democrat did what is detailed in the indictment, nearly 100% of Americans would want them imprisoned.
When a Republican did it, only about half of Americans want him imprisoned.
This tells us there is something seriously wrong with a lot of Americans.

incorrect. this is a first in our history. the line has only been crossed by one half. only one side has political prisoners and only one side has tried to imprison the opposition leader since 2016, complete with fabrication at any cost. theres no spin on this one.
