Official Idaho HS XC 2023 Thread

Preliminary Utah (plus Simplot) Indoor Track Schedule 2024
Jan. 19-20 – BYU Meet
Jan. 26-27 – Weber State Meet
Feb. 2-3 – UHSTCCA State Championship (Olympic Oval)
Feb. 9 – Distance Challenge (Olympic Oval)
Feb. 10 Salem ALC Field - HJ/SP
Feb. 15-17 – Simplot Games (Idaho State)

Anyone have handy the Idaho state records for track? Any candidates to set a record this year?

As I understand it, the records could be:

- State meet only, should be easy to find

- on Idaho soil, tougher to nail down

- Idaho kid anywhere, also tougher

State meet records are easy

Idaho soil will be:

Slagowski 800m (1:48.36) Nathan Green 1600m/mile (4:00 mile), Nathan Green 3200m (8:53).

All time will be Slagowski for 800-mile, I believe Andrew Rafla for 3200m at 8:50.

Given the times going around these days nationally, an 8:50 3200 is likely to go down in the near future at Arcadia.

Realistically, Heemeyer should probably run faster than that this spring but he also didn’t really run faster this fall than he did last year (yet, and I know he had the ankle injury in cross).

I could see the 8:50 surviving.

Of course it probably will survive, but it is by far the most attainable. Green’s 8:53 at state is like an 8:42 at Arcadia.

Meredith Sanford, Courtney Earl, Brighton Heywood, Belle Draney, Kimbrie Knudsen, Marina Renna, Saylor Erickson, Sage Lyon, and a handful of others should be getting at least some looks at places to run. Any idea where they might be looking?

I would imagine that the College of Idaho is in the running for at least a few of the ladies given their strength over the last few years (and #1 in NAIA currently).

Fun reading back through these old threads.....Ruby Ihmels ended up winning and leading Timberline to a 5A state title.....crazy sport!

Ihmels gets 3rd at Footlocker West.

CDA Boys get out badly but rally way up to get 11th.

Heemeyer gets 14th.

Lucas 21st at Runninglane.

At the mile at FLW:

Where would Rocky Mountain have placed at NXN this year?

12th-15th. On par with Franklin which got 13th, but Heemeyer had a great day and got 14th, which would have scored 2 in the team race which would be huge for Rocky.

Sheesley will likely move up, but here are the current Idaho boys who have top 100 speed ratings for their grade. Athay and Heemeyer had their highs in prior years. It’ll change a little after footlocker, of course.
