I won't lie, when I first saw the title of this video I was getting ready to laugh at the "Local Legend" for calling winning a random parkrun one of the best days of his life. But in reality, he was legitimately super happy for Allie
okey. but still 70% of the video is about his local legend stuff. i understand that allie has her own channel where there's much more content about her race, but the title of this video is a bit misleading to me.
watching this video i cannot help but feel kinda douchbag vibes from this spencer dude. not to mention that parkrun "local legend" can't really hold value when you're against parkrun dads and highschool kids while being neighter. that's just lame. i mean, you have profile page at worldathletics' site dude come on...

Spencer's gf is getting ready to try and qualify for the OLY's meanwhile he is celebrating beating new-runners and kids... but claims he is done with running?
talk about one foot in and one foot out, it's shameful stuff. I still don't believe he's had a mature, objective reflection of what he's doing with his life atm, because trying every week to scalp something that is literally advertised as "not a race", is kinda pathetic imo and it's not quality content

This was the first Athlete Special video I've watched since before he got injured and I have to say the stuff with Allie was really sweet. I think the "local legend" stuff is just a fun way for him to get back into training and not take it so seriously. He talked to some of the kids after and it all seemed pretty nice from my perspective. But the real focus on the last few videos I've watched with Spencer in them (most have been on Allie's channel, though) have given me a new perspective and reminded me that he is a good guy. He's very supportive of Allie and I think it really helps her that he's there with her at these races and just in general.
I always kind of imagined the natural finale of The Athlete Special channel would be Spencer lining up at the Olympic Trials this year and then basically doing a victory lap as he's knocked out early. That would've been a really end to the journey for someone like me who's followed him since he started vlogging in Georgetown, when I was also in college. But I actually think it would be an even cooler conclusion if he goes to the trials to support Allie and she makes the team. That would be like the perfect documentation of someone growing up and going from someone just running for themselves or their own personal goals to understanding the positive role he can play in someone else's running and how much more meaningful it can be to share in that moment with someone else.

One thing that really annoys me about shoetubers, they review a shoe and obviously say its the best thing since sliced bread pretty much faultless then when the new version comes out and suddenly it has loads of faults they never mentioned in the original review which of course are all corrected in the new version!
I really dislike how consumerist and gimmicky running youtuber content is. For example, Ben Parkes' recent videos "I Bought 15 of the BEST RATED Running Products on AMAZON". Utter drivel, and yet tens of thousands of people watch it.
Not above the love of the sport anymore, but I guess there's only so much you can say about running.

I can think of one person. Good looks + thick, luscious hair + although he's still in his thirties, his content has been around since most of the others were chasing cheerleaders.
He seems like a nutter, but I love his videos. Comfy af vibes while I do my warm-up warm-down mytrle/SAM routine and foam rolling and post-run shower.
I predict that in a year he will have completely burned out and will make all his YouTube videos private, like RunningManSam who emerged and disappeared over COVID.
If you know it’s poor form, then why do you say it? She’s been running pretty well these past few weeks and her hairstyle is really not important in videos that are about running, in a running vlog from a runner.
