I called out Truett Hanes in his Instagram post about counting/comparing Marathon PRs on courses that drop thousands of feet.... and look at his snappy response to me! I actually did have to "stalk" and look up the elevation drop on St. George...
He also says he weighs 157lbs in that post now...which honestly is pretty close to a lot of us probably (who actually run sub 2:30 on courses that don't drop thousands and thousands of feet)....
What's happened to honest hard work and integrity in this sport?!
Last week, someone playfully commented "How the quads feeling after 3,000 feet of elevation loss? 😉" and you would have thought that they were insulting Truett's recently deceased grandmother by the response. He even had his PED using father and wife in the comments going to WAR for him. Now, he's somehow turned his running into an effort to silence the HATERS, even though the vast, vast majority of comments are glazing him and the most common critique (beyond these forums at least) is "Hey, you should probably acknowledge this course was a 5% downhill grade when posting nonstop about the time you ran."
Who would have ever thought that a guy who makes his entire persona a cry for attention, is sponsored by BlackRifle coffee, and is pushing hats with a motto that makes Nick Bare look creative would have such thin skin?
