A year after the book came out the S&P 500 dropped 36.1%. High growth stocks did well as value stocks took the brunt of the bear market. So investors piled into what became known as the Nifty 50. When the bear market of 1973-74 hit, S&P 500 down 48.2%,, it was the Nifty 50 that suffered major losses. Polaroid never came within 50% of it's all time high despite sales of $1.377 billion and EPS of $3.60 in 1978 compared to $.466 billion and $1.92 in 1969.

I did google searches, and even spent more time than I would like to admit scrolling back on this thread, but couldn't find it.
Now let me see if I can dig into this to find the song and band - would like to download it.

Perhaps chow mein was a California thing, but I believe it was more universal in the United States when I was growing up and eating Chinese. That and egg rolls.

My mother-in-law and father-in-law loved Chinese food, while my wife did not. Now with their passing we never eat Chinese food. I made my first error as a cooking spouse by making my Hong Kong Ching Chong, rice, Chinese vegetables, tuna, stir fry with soy sauce. I was kicked out of the kitchen our first week of marriage never to return.

I ended up getting chicken chow mein of chicken something chinese, and spring rolls. It all looked so bad, like something I would never eat in a thousand years, but I need to commemmorate my boys spreadin' the brand, and I shot my mouth off, to boot.

Seriously, I must be very out of touch. People eat that stuff....

I would take my father-in-law to P. F. Changs in Boise. He would ask where were the Chinese. And while playing rock in the background “I like the Chinese music.” The manager would see me bringing him in and head right to the bar to fix him a martini. So even with some deficiencies it passed inspection.
