Was 24.00% YTD at the start of the day, so pretty good for me. Expecting 2026 to be a down year, but time will tell.

Also, not sure how much this has been talked about, but anyone following silver at all? It recently shot all the way up to $80/oz... I have around 100 old silver dollars I've had stashed away since I was a teenager since I've never needed the money, but I'm seriously considering getting them out and selling a portion of them. I don't really follow precious metals much, but some people are thinking silver will go even higher in 2026 apparently? Anyone have a good feel for this area?

These charges brought against Fed Chair Powell are just laughable.

I would have expected the stock market to react massively, but no, it just plain ignores these nefarious antics.

My hat goes off to Jerome Powell, his years of amazing leadershipp, and his forthright denounciation of the political interference being waged now.

The fact that the markets barely blinked tells us all we need to know about where credibility and leadership can be counted upon today.

Nothing against Powell, but the Fed is a worthless institution. There should be wholesale layoffs of overpaid economists. Tie interest rates to the two year. Stop creating moral hazards by idiotic bailouts, some of which are illegal by their own mandates. Allow markets to exercise price discovery, rather than perpetrating a rigged scheme for the investor class. Move what is left over to San Benito, Texas.

I don't think this has been talked about on this thread, but how's everyone feeling about Venezuela and its oil? That should be a really good thing for the US, right? I don't feel like I have done enough reading into this to understand it well, but it is my understanding that the US will make a deal with Venezuela that is very favorable to the US that allows American oil companies access to its reserves, which will then result in cheaper gas and other petroleum products in the US. Is that roughly correct? If so, this should be a positive thing for the economy overall, though I'm not clear on how big of an effect it will have. Venezuela does have more oil than any other country in the world though, by a long shot.

From what I gather, there is no shortage of very formidable obstacles and limitations to achieving a completely favorable outcome , to such an extent that a favorable outcome is anything but certain.

It is a long time off to come to fruition, even if things go as hoped.

Consequently, not really on my radar at all.

I've been expecting the usual January surge and instead, we are continuing this holding pattern we've been in for the last 3 months. - atleast for the Nasdaq, though the SNP 500 is looking a little better.

Fair amount of volatility to boot.
