I am bracing myself for medicare premium increases for next year. Not only rates going up but we moved up a bracket also.

Putting off social security as long as allowed so not so sure about what will be.

I think there was a stretch where his signature fund actually outperformed the broader market, and it was during some big downturn, like 2009 (?).

The other thing we have been talking about Igy's predictions of crypto. Similarly, I see that it is up today, and essentially flat over the last 5-day period, flat over the last month, but up over 50% in the last year. And for the record, since Igy's doomsday forecast in 2017, it has returned in excess of 28% annual returns on average, which is easily double what the market returns were.

Hussman Strategic fund and NVDA both started around 1999 or so. Since that time Hussman Strategic fund is DOWN negative 41% and NVDA is up 423,000%.

What you are saying here is a very common theme right now among analysts and in the press. That is that the economy is being propped up by the wealthy and much of that wealth is due to, and being reinforced by, wealth accumulation in the stock market.

The less affluent are cutting back due to several reasons including rising prices, but the more affluent are picking up the slack, and they feel less vulnerable due to the outperformance being experienced by the markets.

I don't think that the implications of this should be minimized.

I agree completely, and fwiw, I've heard these figures recently on the radio/podcasts as well. Something needs to be done to start reversing this trend. It already dampens growth in the economy, and will soon become unsustainable.

There was a lot of talk prior in the last few years about balanced budgets and such, but I can't say that anything has changed in that regard, unfortunately.

Our plan goes July to July, 15% increase. Part B premium will be up 11.6% next year. One of my wife's pensions has a Cola now that she's over 70. So we'll have close to $7,000 a month that's adjusted to inflation. I started collecting SS when I was 62; 4 months. Wife was born in 1953, collected spousal and was able to let hers grow until 70. All taxed deferred accounts are in her name, so we've been able to put off RMD.

An antidote to the conversation was our daughter’s colleague bragging about her African safari. We watched our neighbors’ house and cat for two weeks while they cruised the Aegean Sea. The wife came over with a $50 gift certificate, and some stories. Mostly complaining about her husband. Her future travel plans include an African safari. It all seems so phony and pretentious. Meanwhile I live my mundane life, yet still managed at my age to replace the rollers, idler arm, belt, and venting on our clothes dryer. This pleased both my wife and I. Thankfully my wife and I find a simpler life satisfactory.

Well, at the closing bell, markets registering new highs. Certainly seems like some kind of disconnect between the economy and markets. And has been for some time now.

We're staying in Georgetown, just moving from a 2 level to a 1 level. Wife's knees are almost done, doctor told her she'll need a knee replacement in a couple of years. Said, depending on MRI, she may only need a partial replacement.

The village where we lived in NY State was charming and historic, similar to Georgetown, This was why we moved here. Funny, the first time we took the grand kids into town, my grandson remarked how Georgetown looked very much like our former location!
