As predicted, Conor Lott won the Danner Championships in 14:34! Cali performed solidly, Mira Costa won the championship heat and Clovis North got third. Redondo and Torres did fumble the bag however
individuals look really bad this year though. I don't think we have a runner that can get top 50 at nxn this year
Lott should be able to
That sit and kick strategy won't work at nxn or footlocker. It's more likely one of the california individuals at woodbridge who placed 5-15th place at woodbridge that will beat lott at nxn. Lott needed practice in big stage races where all that matters is mental toughness and grit.

When there are 50 bodies of runners around you all that matters is who wants it the most and who has the most guts. The guy who is winning all the races tends to want it the least at the end of the season and doesn't have experience in a true guts race to the end where you are competing for 20th place not 1st.

Lott will definitely be top 50. Abbott placed 53rd last year running 15:04 at the state meet. California has the talent to go and compete but I agree about needing to be tough in those NXN conditions plus championship racing. Seems like an overreaction though to not think a Cali kid will go top 50.

Why are you comparing Abbott's best performance of his season with his CIF times? - Landon was at 14:32, Kushen at 14:44, and Lesher was 14:41 all closer to the 100th place at nxn. Placing top 50 is solid goal for a California runner
that's not a good look for new york. Isn't that supposed to be their biggest invitational? New York is to California is like what California is to the Southwest region.

NY has been the weakest region on the boys side ever since NXN resumed after COVID. In 2023 and 2024, the NY teams finished 20th and 22nd at NXN. In 2022, they finished 10th and 22nd.
In fact, last year’s Xavier NY team that made NXN and finished last might have been the worst team that has ever qualified for it.
I don’t think any NY boys team from McQuaid will make NXN unless they really step up, or the top 2 NY teams (Ward Melville or North Rockland) choke at NXR.
that is two out of region invitationals won by California teams this weekend.
Mira Costa won Portland - Northwest race. Great Oak won McQuaid Invitational - New York race.
A bit of a suprise, I guess California isn't the only weak region out there. 11th, 15th, 17th at nxn last year but california is off to an ok start this year, we will see where they finish.
I think Jesuit can get top 10 this year but no other team has proven they are capable of what jesuit can do.

Last year was a down year for CA, but they were still stronger than these regions for boys teams: New York Heartland Southeast
I think they were almost the same as, or slightly slower than, Northwest
