As for Austin vandegrift they went 1-2-3-4-5-7-8 on 27 schools some with incomplete runners. Schools are pretty weak similar quality as Florida schools but still what shows is that some of their guys really leveled up. pretty excited to see where these two teams are able to go this upcoming season. Austin Vandegrift has definitely been overlooked in terms of what their potential is this upcoming season in preseason talk
4th place was from Austin Anderson, not Austin Vandegrift

Four really good teams in the southwest in this race. really shows the depth that the region has and it is hard to comprehend for other regions. But there is a really simple explanation for this. I was looking into some of the california and nevada teams and individuals with woodbridge coming and most just aren't training hard enough to be competitive with altitude teams coming down. I am specifically talking about the less known teams but just happen to have lots of talent to be specific. Believe it or not lots of them are still running 30-40 mile weeks. While, that will make you fit that won't make you competitive with teams that run 60 mile weeks or with southwest teams that run 45-50 mile weeks. Because it's easier to get more fit in higher altitude, you don't necessary have to do as much work. So it's easier to train up there and avoid injuries at the same time by doing less miles.
From this race, what it looks like is that Aiden Le Roux could be the big southwest running probably following in the footsteps of jojo jourdon, austin westfall, maybe even daniel simmons but i think that is still out of reach. Does anyone know if this is the same exact course as the Colorado state course? I heard last year the stampede was a little different. Anyways, if this is the Colorado course running 15:20 this early in the season is pretty scary.
Yes it was the same course yesterday. It was also warm. It cooled down quite a bit for the boys championship race, but still not as ideal as last year.
Aiden's 15:20 is very legit. He will likely break the record for the state course and could be in contention to win NXR southwest individually.

Coronado went 1-7. They also have a transfer in the open race who ran faster than their 5th man. Since he was in that open race, I guess this means he isn’t eligible until NXR
Underdog california team, redondo union, whos goal is to try to actually make the state meet this year handily beats jserra (returns 4:17.3 average for 5 runners) and mira costa (4:21 average for 5 runners) in their first race of the season. Hopefully rich will move them up from the rated race to sweepstakes
Seems strange neither Dyestat nor Milesplit has released any rankings yet - don't they usually do this the first week or two of August?
Last year milesplit released their rankings and everyone made fun of them for it. My guess is that they are doing what dyestat does now and wait for some very early season races before releasing their rankings. Either that or they are being more careful with their rankings or they are getting lazy who knows

I hear you, however, Coronado was not running against any of the established XC programs of note. How they do at a more competitive event. Why go to Pueblo when they could stay closer to home at the Stampede? That would give a better comparison of how they stack up.
Herriman has 5 guys 180+ speed rating already, and it’s only August. Riverton’s top guys were listed as 1 grade lower than they actually are. This issue was in the Runnercard website.
Battle for the second NXR Southeast spot will be a barn burner. Trinity (Louisville), Knoxville Catholic, and Brentwood look solid. Need to see how Huntsville and Vestavia Hills from AL do on a XC course this year.
