The MAGA propaganda machine is trying to confuse us by saying that President Obama and President Biden were acting like kings regarding ACA and Covid matters. Let's take a minute to think about that.
First, President Obama didn't order citizens to purchase health insurance by some kingly decree. That was part of a law passed by the United States Congress, as allowed by the United States Constitution. And Congress has since decided that individuals will face no penalty for not buying health insurance. That sure seems like purely legislative action to me. Should we next claim that car insurance requirements are the action of a monarchy?
Next, the Covid masking issues were largely decided by local governments and health officials. In fact, many of those directives went into place when Donald Trump was president. And let's not forget that masking requirements went away once Covid stopped being a large-scale threat. No restaurants or offices in Democratic cities require masks these days. So much for the Big Brother Democrats controlling our bodies in perpetuity.
Donald Trump, on the other hand, has sent thousands of federal agents into the streets our cities without the consent of state or local governments. He has imposed tariffs without consulting Congress. He has used the Justice Department to go after his political enemies. Those seem like kingly actions to many Americans--including some Republicans.
And if millions of Americans are out on the streets under the belief that Donald Trump is acting like a king, shouldn't he try to convince them otherwise? Wouldn't an effective leader immediately try to set the record straight and affirm his commitment to a system of government that is of the people, by the people, and for the people? Donald Trump hasn't made the slightest effort whatsoever in that regard. He claims that everyone has Trump Derangement Syndrome. But what kind of a leader inspires derangement? Not a very good leader, as we are finding out.
So the whole Obama/Biden monarchy claims are weak and sad. Clearly, MAGA propaganda is at the point of desperation because of nonstop failures.
