The SAVE act makes people show citizenship to register (passport, etc) and then present ID at the poll. Sure, pass the transgender stuff separately, but it doesn't take away from the fact that it makes sense to prove citizenship to register and then to show ID to vote

This is the game that Trumpers are playing today. Publicly "who could possibly be against the very simple act of getting an ID to make sure elections are fair"? It is as American as Mom and Apple pie!
Privately they know the Save Act is pure voter suppression.
But not enough people are talking about the fact that the Save act wants the federal government taking over elections with access to state voter records. This appears to be the end game. If they can say their was fraud they can seize machines. Trump wanted to do that in 2020. Once they have machines they can craft whatever fraud narrative they want.

Again, if he won in a historic landslide with the laws that are currently in place, why the need to change? It makes you wonder why MAGAs, aka RINOs, want it. Because they know they can't win unless they cheat.

Because these are not voter ID laws that are being proposed. They’re voter restriction laws. GOP leaders were caught admitting that the SAVE Act would reduce voter turnout to 12% to 16% which is the only way they can keep Congress. Millions of Americans don’t have the documents the act mandates and don’t have the means to obtain them.
Run the 2026 election under the same rules as the 2024 election and the GOP should do just fine because they’ve been doing such a great job and they’ve also run all the illegal immigrants out of the country so there are no more to effect the results in their BS claims of voter fraud.

And what if someone doesn’t have a passport?
Then you show a birth certificate or naturalization certificate (or something else that 100% proves citizenship). If you don't do that, c'est la vie.

The fact that Trump keeps repeating the blatant and easily disproven lie that the US is the only country that has mail in ballots should be sufficient to tip off Trumpers to the fact that none of what Trump is pitching is about free and fair elections...

Passports cost money and are a pain to get - its a poll tax. States handle elections it's in the constitution for a reason. SAVE is a direct attack at minorities including women and POCs.
