1) Battleships in the usual sense were obsoleted by aircraft carriers at least 50 years ago, so you probably don't actually mean "battleships".
2) Ukraine already showed that one doesn't need a conventional navy or air force to threaten enemy naval operations at least in so far as to prevent an enemy navy from operating with impunity near shore.
I never expect military literacy, but I’ve nonetheless been a little surprised in recent months to see journalists who should do their homework better saying “battleship” (a specific type of warship) when they mean “warship” (a more generic term).
Neither Trump nor Kegseth nor Ukraine taught us that warships are more vulnerable closer to shore. I’m not a naval historian, but pretty sure that that’s been true since at least the invention of the cannon. And even more true in a straight, or other tight passage. BTW, this obviously doesn’t mean that warships are obsolete. When a Tomahawk or air-dropped ordnance lands on your head, it’s no consolation that the ship from which they came WOULD be more vulnerable near shore!
Anyway, Hormuz is particularly challenging given the geography, and the existence of an ornery nation that owns fully half of the shoreline and has been working to be able to overwhelm the Great Satan’s shipboard defenses for many decades.
Last but not least, even if our ships are able to defend themselves against swarms, world commerce still grinds to a halt when as little as a single RPG hits a merchant.
But again, none of this is new. The idiot boys didn’t reveal this to the world, BUT THEY SURE DID IGNORE THE WARNINGS THEY NO DOUBT GOT FROM THE ADMIRALS AND GENERALS.
Thank you for clarifying. I am sure you are right and military enemies all knew of Naval vulnerabilities of the US before this Trump war...
But we can probably agree that the leverage and power of the worlds' super power is much greater when that super power does not reveal it's ineffectiveness with a poorly thought out war effort. I keep thinking of how the US assessment of Ukraine when Russia invaded was for their President to go into exile and roll over because of the mighty Russian army. Then Russia showed that they weren't what we thought they were.
Is it a coincidence that Trump through Musk and Doge desperately and illegally pursued and obtained American’s private data like social security numbers and dates of birth, and now they are desperately and illegally pursuing States voter rolls with the same intensity?
How did Trump and the GOP do in the last election with our current laws in place? If they’ve done such a good job leading the country, they should have no reason to fear the results of the next election under the same rules that saw them win everything in 2024.
we're in an unwinnable war that has jacked oil prices over $100 barrel
no jobs have been created for a year
the deficit has ballooned
it's been scandal after scandal after scandal after scandal. complete corruption.
inflation is roaring again
GDP is slowing
the world hates us with almost no exceptions
odds of a recession are rising sharply
we told you this would happen. And you did it anyway. morans.
More incompetence...
Dismantled Natcast in, a non-profit established to manage $7.4 billion in CHIPS Act R&D funding. This basically cedes chip making to Taiwan. When China takes Taiwan, they will control chip making and the US will be fukked. Even though the CHIPS act was largely bipartisan, Trump deemed it necessary to dismantle because it was Biden's accomplishment, not his.
Trump once again puts his own interests ahead of the US. Meanwhile he will gleefully spend $1 billion a day of US taxpayer money to fund Bibi's war.

Now he’s paying foreign companies $1B to not supply clean electricity to the US. What an idiot.
“The U.S. government is insolvent. That’s not hyperbole — it’s the conclusion drawn directly from the Treasury Department’s own consolidated financial statements for fiscal year 2025, released last week to near-total media silence. The numbers: $6.06 trillion in total assets against $47.78 trillion in total liabilities as of September 30, 2025.”
trump followers are the most ignorant and gullible people on the planet. That's an indisputable fact.
Yeah, an illegal immigrant would be risking deportation and/or one year in jail. Anyone trying to organize illegal immigrants to vote would be facing severe penalties.
There are few states that have enough potential illegal immigrants to turn an election. California has the the most, but doesn’t need them to win elections.
