I first became aware of Francoise Hardy during my junior year of HS (66-67). We got some publication, from Paris Match if I remember correctly, targeted at US students studying French. There were often articles about her, plus my French teacher would play her records when we had language lab. Anyway, here's a poignant song by her and I've included an English translation.

My office at UTRGV mate was the Men’s Soccer Coach, a Latino born in Nyssa, Oregon to migrant parents. Harvested onions and potatoes. He would always joke about his birth certificate noting his race as “White.” “See Harter, I am White.”

Pretty clear who is willing to do the work. I caught a couple Latinos trimming trees on Friday. Ask them if they would be willing to do some work for me. No hesitation, came over a couple hours later. Thanked me for giving them the work. I contracted them next month to do some more difficult trimming over the roof that requires a telescoping bucket.

gente, I have to admit that of the two, I prefer the Judy Collins version a little more, but it is a broader production, to be fair, and understanding the lyrics helps, too.

I was surprised to see that the song's album charting date says 1963. That's earlier than I would have thought so checking into it, I come to find that the song was actually "released" even earlier - 1961. And she was born in Seattle, nonetheless, to a father who was blind singer, pianist, and radio show host.

Thanks for sharing these, and I hope that you are sharing them with your grandkids in Texas as well. I still remember your endearing story of driving home after their baseball games in the fall.

I'd expect that will goose the markets a bit, along with the crypto animal spirits.

It's going to be exactly like his first term - maximize saying the dumbest things possible regardless of it's even possible or remotely sensible, all for the purposes of creating a media storm and tons of speculation.

If you have the stomach for it then you can leverage the stupidity to some pretty sweet gains on leveraged ETFs or options, but otherwise it's business as usual I think.

The 11th hour Biden pardons preserves the myth that there was no Administration or Biden Family corruption, thus opening the door for new market highs.
