Wow. Everyone seem to have forgotten that Israel launched this war and US joined in later. Close coordination is a misleading characterization. Israel demands and US does is more apt. If a statement is actually off the record, we don't see it.

It does appear that Israel is more interested in their own war with Lebanon and they are content with the US taking the global attention away from what they are doing over there.
