Ignoring the trolls, this statement is pretty strange. For one, we don't know if it's authentic. I don't really use instagram, but it seems that Clevenger's account (@seth_clevenger) is private. Can anyone confirm that he actually posted this?
Regarding the claim that he wasn't kicked off the Iowa State team: it could well be true, but in the same sense that Richard Nixon wasn't impeached, but chose to resign. The supposed reasons Clevenger transferred seem hard to believe for someone in the midst of a breakthrough season at the top-ranked cross country program in the nation.
The statement attributes the video source to "two former Iowa State teammates." But as far as I know, no one has come forward to accept responsibility. Given the date it came out, I assumed the video came from someone at Rowan.
The statement also claims that Legio Store "ceased shipments to the US in early September." From what I can tell, Legio Store is or was a dubiously legal PED distributor. Their website is already down. How would Clevenger's attorneys have known their export schedule?
Any drug tests Clevenger has passed mean very little to me. EPO is notoriously hard to detect, and Clevenger would be a fool to take it while this issue is blowing up online. Not to mention the fact that he could have taken it in the past.
Lastly, if Clevenger was officially cleared of wrongdoing, why hasn't Iowa State shared that? Surely they're aware of the furor surrounding him.
Again, I don't know if this statement is even real. But either way, it hardly presents an encouraging defense.
