He is a right wing attorney. That's why you approve of what he says. Like that other appalling piece of work, Allan Dershowitz.
Here's a very simple point, which means even you might understand it. If Trump had not been "convicted" by the jury verdicts then he could sued media for falsely claiming they were "convictions" - as they uniformly did. He hasn't. Guess why not?
After the jury verdict Trump could have fled the country and he would not have been a fugitive. He had not been convicted. A jury verdict of guilt IS NOT a conviction.
If you are an attorney it should be easy to offer up case law where it states a guilty jury verdict is same as a conviction. All the case law I have read says just the opposite.

You don't answer: so why hasn't Trump sued for malicious and defamatory reporting that describes him as a 34-times convicted felon?
What you say about his being a "fugitive" is pure supposition. In any case, he had no intention of "fleeing the country" - he had become President and had no need to run since he didn't face a custodial sentence. Appeals would have seen to that and Judge Merchan indicated he has no intention of imposing a custodial penalty - or any penalty.
But if he had been Al Capone and convicted - but not sentenced - for tax offences, illegally selling liquor or whatever he could have been prevented from leaving the country. His passport would have been seized if it was thought he was going to do a runner. If he had gone to Canada or wherever his extradition could have been sought. But the principle is the same.

You're right about the political landscape in 2008, 2012 or even 2016. But that no longer applies. It has dramatically changed since 2020. The "moveable middle" - which was never that big - has largely disappeared, such is the polarisation that has taken place, reinforced by the power of propaganda. The political divisions today are closer to those of 1860. There are historical scholars who say a second civil war isn't simply possible or even likely; it is inevitable.
I would add, members of the Trump cult - which is what "Republican" now means - aren't going to flip on the price of eggs or petrol; their whole sense of identity and their view of reality is founded on that allegiance. That is why the Democrat campaign had no real chance of winning any of them over. The US is long past that.
So in 2032 when Trump is no longer President this all goes away? Cults don’t typically survive once their leader leaves - especially one with strong, charismatic leaders like Trump.

That is a relevant question. If Trumpism lasts till 2032 it will no longer be dependant on him. It will have become like the Moon church. He will have his successors and the cult will have become institutionalized.

What do you mean it will no longer be dependant on him? He’ll still be President.

It helps if you understand it. You don't. I have explained how convictions arising from a jury verdict may cease to be convictions; they have to be rejected by the judge as clearly against the evidence - they haven't been - or appealed and overturned. That also hasn't happened. It may. Sentencing does not give rise to conviction; it merely confirms it.

Please cite the case law. Pretend I am your law professor.

The existence of the cult won't depend on him. There will be a whole framework in place by then. Similar to the Party in China that continued its rule after Mao's death.

That is the most risible pretence possible. In two days your absurd assertions will be utterly irrelevant - as they are. Are you so dumb as to not see that the rage of Trumpers against his convictions are because that is what they are?

So Trump is like Hitler AND Mao?
In the sense of being a cult leader - which is the comparison - yes. He is also like them as being a sociopathic narcissist and shares their authoritarian character. Unlike them, he is as stupid as a pile of bricks. So are most of his followers. Those who aren't are the billionaire oligarchs, who will effectively run your country.

Sounds good to me. 👍
There’s too many rules to follow and decisions to be made in a democracy anyway. We’ll be better off.

You Libs want to brand all non-liberals as "Trumpers." I am not a Trumper. I am a conservative who despises the policies that you Libs bring to the table. I think Trump is a pretty bad person but he was a pretty good president and will be a pretty good president during his second term. The only reason I voted for Trump was due to the alternative - Kamala and her policies. Biden came close to ruining the country and she would have sealed the deal. Please never again call me a Trumper. Call me a conservative.

feet on earth, sally. Biden has fixed the crisis the country was facing economically after trump and politically after trump.
the economy is booming, everyone has a job, gas is cheap, stocks are near all-time highs, the nation is at peace for the first time this century, there were zero scandals in the WH. Immigration is at the lowest levels in years if you like that sort of thing. And of course there was no attempt to overthrow democracy this time - power is being handed off peacefully again.
Any nonsense you claim about 'bad biden policies' has to do with transgenders and right wing lies.
Just admit you vote based on what kind of shoes and makeup a few men wear and move on.
Remember, the makeup trump wears is good.
The makeup transgenders wear is bad.
Keep that straight, ok. It will keep you sane.
