Jesuit has pulled off a similar impressive feat to that degree in the 80s- twin state champions. Eric and Mark Malistair- Mark winning the CIF 1600 title and Eric winning the 3200 title- both in sub 4:10 and sub 8:50 respectively.
Rude is kind of pushing it. I think Sac running is being realistic. Andrew Burr is certainly not where he’s used to be but considering his mass amount of improvement within 5-6 weeks after breaking his leg- it’s something to not brush past. If he’s able to peak at the right time- he could have a shot. Burr does certainly have a lot of catching up to do considering there’s already about 5 other runners below 9:10 (we’re not bring Abbott and Broen into the equation because Ik damn well they’re taking those first two spots to state- it’s really that 3rd auto qual spot that can be taken by literally anyone, unless Abbott does go through with his comment about pushing 68’s and closing in 64 to get an “SJS Takeover” but I think that could only get you so far with at least maybe 1-2 at large spots. If we were to get the other 6 at large spots, Holman and Abbott should be shooting to run low 8:50s at section masters). Anyways, all I’m saying is that Burr’s trajectory is not something to look past.
Totally think what you wrote is far. I just dislike - having been injured myself - that some armchair quarterback says the kid hasn’t had a good race all season when he has probably fought like a dog to improve that much after a really bad injury his senior season.
Yesterday was signing day, does anyone know of any top signees? Especially Aydon Stefanopolous and JR Lesher? It seems like the top runners in Cali have all committed somewhere but Aydon and Lesher (unless I’m missing something)
I asked Aydon recently and he said he hasn't committed yet. I suspect he's trying to get into a school through his academics and then walk onto the XC/TF team. I have also heard a lot of UCLA and Berkeley rumors regarding him but nothing confirmed.
Though, I don't know about J.R. Lesher.
Also, expect to hear an announcement by Callum McBride sometime soon!
Aydon committed ucla (posted on Instagram also). Aydon and academics.... all I'm gonna say is if you know you know 🤐🤐
Sophomore Syed from Beckman ran a 9:22 3200 this week. He was just outside their top 7 last fall and his previous PR was 9:49. Some of us might think another person wore his chip/bib, but someone mentioned in the 2025 XC thread that the reason why he started slower this season was because of Ramadan and an injury.

Beckman is becoming a powerhouse these days
how are the beckman frosh for this year? do they develop their runners or are they just transfers in from other programs? not sure when their league finals are but I'd be interested in the frosh 1600 and 3200 times from league and compare them to next year.

Beckman freshman class is not as strong as last year’s
Jesuit’s freshman class is not as strong as previous years either
There’s also 8th grader Luca Miller from Buffalo Chips Running Club who ran 4:48 recently… that could also be another one who could potentially go to Jesuit. As I’ve said… opportunities for Jesuit to work their magic in the next coming years.
Beckman freshmen class doesent look amazing but surely will be developed in a couple years like many have. 6 of the 7 top returners started at Beckman. Am interested in seeing if they end up getting any transfers. Beckman has great depth
Can you all talk about cross country on the cross country thread? This is the track and field thread. How about talking about the 9th grader from Servite that ran 46.3 today?

seems like he’s another 16 y/o freshman 🤦♂️ these reclasses are just getting f’ing ridiculous
Granite Bay Sophomore, Connor Bilodeau, runs 4:11 to win the SFL 1600 (5 second improvement). He also won the SFL 3200 in 9:19. He should be deadly in the next 2 years.
