All of those things would be occurring regardless of whether or not Biden was elected. The trends really haven't changed at all under his "leadership". Ultimately masks, health departments, schools, etc. are all the domain of states and local governments, not the feds. Trump did a fine job with getting vaccines approved and in circulation far faster than Dems were saying he could, which is something the feds could influence. Seems like Biden is taking his time with the J&J vaccine (meanwhile they are shipping pallets to South Africa). Sleepy Joe is taking naps while his VP is taking meetings with foreign dignitaries. He passed a bunch of nonsense legislation and killed a ton of jobs. So far his presidency has been very underwhelming.

The common thread among the best is all but one have Republican governors (Kansas has a Dem governor, but went Trump in 2020) and all the worst have Democrat governors. Not to mention which states have kids that are more likely to be receiving in person education. In terms of COVID outcomes, there really is not a significant difference between the states in terms of deaths per capita is both have some high performers (CO, HI, ID, NH and VT) and both have some low performers (NJ, NY, RI, CT, SD). Democrat policies try to sound popular and scientific, but the reality is they have failed miserably.

Why didn't Trump say that during the election??? Oops!

For those without access to the Times, here are some of the salient points:
G.D.P., jobs and other indicators have all risen faster under Democrats for nearly the past century.
Since 1933, the economy has grown at an annual average rate of 4.6 percent under Democratic presidents and 2.4 percent under Republicans. (And working from that date is *kind* to Republicans, because it excludes the portion of the Great Depression that happened on Herbert Hoover's watch.)
The six presidents who have presided over the fastest job growth have all been Democrats; the four who have presided over the slowest growth have all been Republicans.
The pattern holds regardless of which party is running Congress.
Democratic deficit spending can't get the credit/blame, because over the last four decades Republican presidents have run up larger deficits than Democrats.
Democrats have been more pragmatic, willing to heed economic/historical lessons about what policies actually *work* to bolster the economy; Republican tend to cling to preferred theories, like tax cuts and deregulation.
Democratic presidents historically have been quicker to respond to downturns.
The article carefully notes that coincidence doubtless has played a part, but quotes economists/statisticians saying that the near-century of the pattern means randomness cannot be the whole answer.

*A* common thread is that many of the "worst" states have substantial entertainment and hospitality sectors--you know, they're places people might actually like to visit--whereas the "best" have economies that rely much less on those sectors, which have been very hard-hit by the epidemic.
Biden shut down the progressives including Sanders, AOC and Schumer. They pushed him for $50,000 student debt forgiveness. Biden would only agree to $10,000 debt forgiveness.
Actually progressives should thank Biden. If he listened to them we would have Republicans taking over in 2022.

Problem with that argument is other than Hawaii, most of the other locations can be reached by car. Explain the difference between Utah and Colorado in terms of tourist destinations (heck, I live in Colorado and vacationed in Utah last year after Europe decided they didn't want our money).
New Mexico, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Jersey, Illinois and Michigan aren't exactly tourist destinations either. The difference is states like Utah and Idaho didn't put out a do not enter sign, unlike the others.
I'm supposed to go fishing up in Canada this summer but right now they are flipping the beaver tail at tourists. Hopefully they can get their socialized medicine in gear up there (right now the US has 5 times as many people vaccinated than our socialist neighbors to the north. How soon before we have Canadians trying to cross the border to get vaccinated?

Is this guy trying to say that R-run economies are more productive than D-run economies?
Does anyone on the planet still think that? They can't, right? right?
Sort of quaint. Like thinking cutting taxes raises tax revenue.
Carry on, dude.

And for the last 10 years the fastest growing states years have been mostly red states (plus WA and MA). And people have been voting with their feet in droves towards red states. Can't just pretend that isn't happening.

What you really mean is all your supposed interest in politics was an act. You did it because you were told to, like a trained domestic animal.

true people have moving away from blue states, but that's mostly because blue states have become rich and productive so housing in those states has become expensive.
So sure, go to red states, with all that empty land and low productivity. Your house will be cheaper. Enjoy. It's a choice. But it's not a choice based on higher income potential.
As for which states are currently doing better...that's a hard measurement - unemployment is just one number, affecting mostly poor and lower middle class people. By other measures I'm sure blue states are doing much better.
These are very strange times. Let's see where we are in the fall, when the economy is roaring and people are traveling again.

IF you are correct that the Biden presidency has been very underwhelming to date then it is only outperforming that of his predecessor by 27,000%

Fast-growing red state economies are not growing due to cheap housing, they're growing thanks to the energy booms that Obama was hostile to but NYTimes nonetheless implicitly credits him for. Washington's growth in the last decade is mostly due to tech companies expanding away from CA due to much lower taxes and slightly better business climate.

Do you consider Arizona and Georgia red states? Not arguing, just curious.
