Warren is NOT a socialist. The capitalist position is that the government should only step in where the free market has failed. Free market health insurance is an industry that has failed.
It's just like free market fire engine companies. They failed to cover the needs of the public. So the government took over that service. Free market health insurance has failed to cover millions of people. Medicare has proven it can cover more people, provide better service, and do it for a lot less money.
The Green New Deal costs $0. It's just a statement of goals.
If you look at Warren's plan for stopping climate change, you will see that it is a free market solution. Unlike Bernie Sanders, she does not propose government takeover of the means of production.
I think we are wrong to the "all or none" label of our candidate as socialist or not. There are degrees of socialism. As one poster has pointed out most of us are very happy with a socialist approach in some areas ( national parks, VA medical services, military and police). Its a continuum of degrees of socialism. None of the candidates want on economic system where the government owns and runs all our major businesses. That would be socialism. But some candidates obviously are more accepting of an increase in socialistic practices. Government owned and run health insurance moves in that direction. This isn't to say that its a bad thing but in the continuum it is more socialistic than privately owned health insurance.
As I have stated in the past socialism is a very bad branding for democratic candidates in a general election. So when Bernie and Warren embrace the term socialist democrat I think they harm themselves for a run in a general election. Its just bad politics and causes one to have to play defense and explain that they are not a socialist.
Warren DOES NOT embrace the term "socialist democrat". She is a capitalist to the bone and she will tell you that every chance she gets ---- because it's true.
