I don’t know that Trump truly believes that he’s friends with anyone. Regarding the rest of the world’s leaders, he simply embarrasses himself by pretending that incredibly shallow, fleeting contacts with world leaders constitute real personal or national bonds. Of course, they do not, and ESPECIALLY when the other side is looking at a belligerent clown like Trump.
I think that Putin is likely uniquely different. The existence of one or more forms of kompromat that scare the shi* out of Trump seems awfully likely. And if correct, here’s hoping that the worst of it comes out before he dies.
