If the market stays like it is now (who knows?), the Dow and the S&P 500 will both close at record highs, meaning most stock holders will hve their highest value yet.
Thanks, Joe Biden!
Oh, sure, but how about your tech heavy nasdaq portfolio? (...only kidding).
Nasdaq needs one more day like today to be at it's all time high also.
Sweet!
I definitely have stuff in the NASDAQ. I THINK I will have my all-time high though if things stay as they are right now. We shall see. I'm mostly happy for all stock holders, especially those who are investing so that they can retire. Also, just one more thing that makes this period of time under Joe Biden's watch, great.

Love when dims can't take one single thing and not make them about politics.
Since you brought him up, Biden loved to talk about how Trump was a defeated former president. Fast forward to today, not only was Biden beaten in 2024, he was declared beaten so badly BEFORE election day even came that he was essentially kicked out of office by his own party. Everyone knew he could not even allowed to be given the chance to be defeated in a landslide, which he would have been. That is the worst form of defeat I can ever remember having happened in politics. Couldn't have happened to an angrier guy.
Truth be told I feel bad for the man. He should be on a beach in Florida somewhere sipping a pina colada, not pretending to be president. When I see him on the news now I almost forget that he's the current sitting president of the United States. Scary times we live in.
Off topic, but for Maserati and Seattle. On the topic of taking care of things you own. Five coats of poly (so far), cut with about 10% lacquer thinner applied with a high quality folded paper towel, one direction stroke with grain. Table bought at unfinished furniture store in Houston 1983:

Everything has its application, but for indoor furniture I have moved to penetrating and semi-curing finishes like linseed oil, “teak oil”, orange oil, and “Danish oil”.
Having said that, I do have some 1950’s-era white oak chairs with their original soap finish😁.
Curious, have you ever done any deep multi-coat polished wax finishes? The depth…is something that I haven’t seen attainable otherwise.
I am writing this from an altitude of 10,973m over the Atlantic, on my way back to the US. I just finished listening to a fun organ demo by Paul Fey, on YT—and here I am on DGTD! My wife has just been brought to tears by some Donald Sutherland movie, I just don’t get it. I am just ROCKING this flight!😂
Time for some calf raises. Nothing like some peripheral edema yo go with a Fed announcement. Maybe I’ll get indigestion and hit the trifecta.

No, I have not. However, what I will do, is let it cure a month. Then lightly sand with 00 steel wool, then hand polish with car wax.
I have a couple end table, and a coffee table next. We have a stray cat that had his front claws removed, he takes revenge with his rear claws, hugging and kicking the table legs. :-)

Listen up, Precious:
1) Trump IS a defeated former President (and he'll be defeated again).
2) Biden has had age-related decline that couldn't be ignored. Democrats did the sensible thing there, something your party should also consider. It was actually riskier to replace him on the ticket with Harris, but Democrats did the right thing...something for which we are known.
3) If Biden hadn't decided to step aside (and he did do the right thing), he still would have won the election. The 13 Keys say so, and it would have happened. Americans would vote for a bag of hammers over Trump.
4) Glad you feel bad for Biden. I do too. Assuming he actually does have progressive dementia of some sort, if he lives long enough, he will forget the people he loves and who love him, he'll not remember he was the President of the United States. It's a horrible ending to a life for anyone.
5) Finally, the REASON I mentioned Biden with regard to the continued SURGING stock market is NOT that he gets credit for it, but because it's one more thing Trump and Trumpers can't use against him. Harris MUST win to save our Democratic Republic...and she WILL win as predicted by the 13 Keys, but anything and everything that removes ammunition from Trump and his dunderhead followers like you, the better.

Given that this is a sure path to permanent one-party rule, it is a very smart strategy.”

Musk is a nutbar. Ohio's REPUBLICAN governor praised the Haitians who came to Springfield as they helped the economy boom there.
What will help Republicans get more votes is to actually embrace policies that most voters want.
a year ago, the director of macro at Fidelity didn't think we'd get all time highs.
wrong!
Post See new posts Conversation Jurrien Timmer @TimmerFidelity What's next for stocks? My best guess is that this is a cyclical bull market at the end of a secular bull market. So, rather than surging to new highs, perhaps all we will get is a return to the old highs, and then another bear market (caused, perhaps, by the long-expected but yet-elusive recession). If we compare the current cycle to relevant ones from the past, we can see that price action is consistent with this secular context. This cycle looks like 1975 or 1968 or even 1946. Hard to get excited about that.

Just to get everyone's blood going, here's a Zerohedge prediction check... That didn't work out.
But to be fair, the job market is indeed weakening so they got the basic direction right.
zerohedge @zerohedge Hiring is now the lowest since - drumroll - January 2018 (excluding the record one month drop in April 2020). The job market is done, payrolls will be in freefall in 2-3 months. 10:26 AM · May 1, 2024 · 483.3K Views

1) Never said he wasn't. 2) Dims did the sensible thing and overthrew democracy to nominate someone that got 0 votes. 3) Incorrect on so many levels I can't believe you just said that. 4) Cool. 5) She will not and I will return here to gloat.

What will help Republicans get more votes is to actually embrace policies that most voters want.
"What is your plan to lower the cost of living?"
Kamala Harris ... "In terms of both rightly having the right to have aspirations and dreams and ambitions for your family and working hard and finding that the American Dream is, for this generation and so many recently, far more elusive than it's been."

Ohio's REPUBLICAN governor praised the Haitians who came to Springfield as they helped the economy boom there.
After receiving a standing ovation at his Springfield, OH town hall, Vivek Ramaswamy gets a question from the audience:
Q: Are you going to run for governor of Ohio?
VIVEK: I’m a little more inclined than I was about 10 seconds ago.
Import millions of illegal immigrants for cheap labor, pay them $100s of Billions in subsistence payments, claim employment is up.
Our economy relies on immigrants, both especially educated and skilled and not. Americans do not produce enough replacement workers. Reagan recognized the importance of immigrants. My state's Republican Governor recognizes the importance of immigrants, praising the Haitian immigrants for helping create an economic boom in Springfield, a town that was not doing well.
Unless you are Native American, you are here because one of your relatives came from elsewhere.
What will help Republicans get more votes is to actually embrace policies that most voters want.

Dude, you don't seriously want to get into a battle of word salad answers between Harris and Trump, do you? Get serious. ALL politicians fumble their way to the point they want to make, but Trump is the KING of nonsense.

1) Well, to reiterate, Trump IS a defeated former President. 2) Democrats and Republicans have the right to nominate who they want, and ANY President has the right to step down for any reason. Biden stepped down. It was the right thing to do. Your side should have followed suit. 3) Sorry, but Biden would have won. 13 Keys say so. There is more enthusiasm for Harris, but enthusiasm doesn't necessarily translate into a lot more votes. Those who are going to vote for Harris were going to vote for Biden no matter what. Voters today know that Democrats will at least follow the rule of law and that if one of them doesn't, they will be out on their ear. Americans are tired of Trump and his nonsense. Bag of hammers over Trump, all day any day. 4) You got this one right. Good for you. 5) Harris is going to win, and you will not come here to gloat. I could end there, but you need to ask yourself why you think this. Do you not believe the polls (I actually don't). Do you not know the significance of or just don't believe in the 13 Keys to the White House? Do you not believe in trends in polling (I actually don't)? Do you not believe the betting sites (I actually don't)? Do you see a lot of independents and Democrats backing Trump...more so than the other direction backing Harris? What is your reasoning for thinking that Trump will win? I mean, you know we stole the election last time with no trace, so we'll just do it again, right? Harris is going to win, and you will do nothing and like it.
