Got into St John's late Tues nite. Find out Air Canada pilots might go on strike the 18th. We don't go back till the 24th so we're keeping our fingers crossed. There's an Austin vibe here, only 25 to 35 degrees cooler. Also reminds me of SF, very hilly. Seems to be a good replacement to Cape Cod for our annual beat the heat tour.

This is a badly distorted assessment of how the market did during those 16 years. You are looking at how long it took to return to the 2000 level but totally ignoring dividends. Over the last 100 years 40% of the total performance of the S & P has come through the dividends. The market did much better during that time than what you are intimating.
Earnings Scorecard: For Q3 2024 (with 2 S&P 500 companies reporting actual results), 2 S&P 500 companies have reported a positive EPS surprise and 2 S&P 500 companies has reported a positive revenue surprise.

Yes, there are differences, Tex-Mex vs Celtic-Anglo, but both are progressive and embrace diversity. In Austin it's stated explicitly, "Keep Austin weird". Here it's implied, keep St John's jellybean. Crazy coincidence, my wife posted some pictures on FB and it turns out her cousin from Long Island left here Thursday!
