If I were you, I would not have connected your wife to him.
91% really ain't bad for a Republican senator from the South. Puts him in the middle of the pack among R's overall.
My wife knew him a very long time ago. This was long before the age of orange.
But Atlanta mayor Keisha Bottoms has dealt with him more recently and she likes him very much.
I don't know why these senators are afraid to speak up. But I tell you all this to give you some hope. There are some decent Republicans in the senate. They just need to grow a spine.
Isakson has shown his true character, a lack thereof, by not speaking out against Trump. What your wife saw in him was a mirage. I know not of any decent Republicans in the Senate other than Amash, and he's only a decent in that he's speaking against Trump. He's a punk otherwise.

The POTUS has seemed more unhinged than what has become the norm the last week or 10 days.
The number of times I heard the pres is "unhinged" is just laughable. On Morning Joe and MSNBC and CNN they always would say Trump is "panicking" or "unhinged" or "lashing out" simply because they had nothing on him. They had to make him seem desperate. What happened with the Mueller investigation? The answer - NOTHING. Mueller found nothing. Deutsche Bank was going to bring him down. Did it? Stormy Daniels was going to bring him down. Did it? Michael Cohen testifying was going to bring him down. Did it? Mattis? I heard for 3 years that so-and-so was going to bring Trump down. Well... answer me this. Where is Trump now? OH - he is still in the White House. You sound like fools. Quit it!
No change yet from you. As stupid as ever.

You and your constant global warming hysteria needs to stop.
The Obamas bought expensive coastal property because they know global warming is a hoax.
Property values haven’t plummeted on Martha’s Vineyard because sellers know it too.
And buyers.
And real estate agents.
Just about everyone knows it’s a hoax and a cult.
Get over it.

The capitalist solutions for climate change will have a huge positive impact on the economy. The infrastructure investments will continue to pay off for decades.
Electricity will become virtually free. Our health will improve from cleaner air and water. Transportation will be faster and more efficient. The list goes on.
If we do nothing, we will just pay and pay and pay. Plus billions will die an early death.
Global warming is bad science followed by worse politics.

You are right. He is a Representative. My mistake. He also technically is not a Republican anymore as he left the party and now is an Independent. I suppose that's a good thing. I then fail to think of a current Republican Senator who is decent. Flake and Corker are gone. No more good ones to be had. He is a punk because he is one of the most conservative members of Congress with big scores from Heritage Action for America, and, he's horrible where the environment is concerned, often saying the EPA is overreaching. There are Republicans and Independents worse than him though.

It is amazing how difficult it is for most people to see beyond the "personal charm" of folks that they know. The wife, in the above story, reminds me of the many Trumpettes who think everyone would just love Trump if they only got to know him.
My wife has always voted against Isakson. So have I.
I know it's hard to believe, but there was a time when you could separate the person from the politics. I hope we see those days again.
Politicians supporting Trump are cowards or a-holes.
The phrase "separate the person from the politics" is cute. But it is a badly misguided notion. What is politics if not an expression of values? No, I do not separate a person from the values they uphold.
There is nothing wrong with traditional conservative values. But supporting Trump as a politician does indeed identify one as either a coward or an a-hole. And it is inappropriate to hide behind "separating the person from the politics."

How deep to the lie levels go? In the movie Inception they only go five levels deep. Trump has delved deeper the that.
