No, because I never said that. Some time ago, I did repeat the 20% figure, which, it turns out, is probably too high. The Amazon does manufacture a huge amount of the world's O2, which shows how vibrant and important it is.
Talking about the O2 that is expelled is a proxy for the CO2 removed. In photosynthesis, you don't have one without the other.
From the beginning, I have discussed deforestation in terms of climate change. And as the UCS explains, the damage of deforestation goes beyond climate change as well.
Good lord, you STILL haven't learned! How is that possible?
The Amazon, consumes just as much O2 as it "manufactures". Therefore it does not supply any O2 to the rest of the world. Or, to put it another way, the rest of the world supplies the Amazon with the same amount of O2 that the Amazon supplies to the rest of the world. Further, the Amazon does not remove any CO2 from the atmosphere above any beyond what it puts into the atmosphere.
Are you STILL too stupid to understand this simple concept?
I never disputed what you just said.
I'm just agreeing with the Union of Concerned Scientists. If you are dumb enough to question their conclusions, take it up with them.
