Point 2 - Even with the postulate that the Amazon is currently carbon neutral, would it be expected to remain so with deforestation?

Not at all. He will stay in office whether impeached or not. The courts can more effectively go after him when he doesn't have the protection of his office. Not being impeached at this time does not mean he is getting away with anything.

Also Democratic Congressman in conservative districts may be endangering their position to vote to impeach.

Georgia senator Johnny Isakson has announced his early retirement at the end of the year due to failing health. This means that the governor will appoint a Trumpian senator to take his place until the special election in November of 2020. That means Georgians will elect two senators next year. One for a full term and the other for a partial term.

I find it sad that Isakson is leaving. My wife knew him when he was in the Georgia legislature and has lots of nice things to say about him. She now knows the mayor of Atlanta who told her that she also thinks very highly of Isakson.

Both my wife and the mayor are liberals but they have great respect for Johnny Isakson. He's a throwback to a better era.

Of course, we wish that a good man like that would have the guts to speak out against our bad joke of a president. Maybe now he will.

One thing is certain. Georgia is going to be the uber-battleground state next year.

Trump would still bill taxpayers for the people who failed to attend. He'll book the rooms for them at top dollar rates. And he'll buy food that will go to waste. As much as I'd like Trump out of there, I think some brake pumping is needed on this story. Even if the story is 100% true, there would be no confirmation for a long time. Deutsche Bank has been very reluctant to turn over any documentation whether loan documents or tax forms based on dealings with Trump. The bank is very likely to, at best for those who want to see them, fight every request to the bitter end. I would guess than it would take until after the 2020 election before any documents which mean anything were to be handed over and that's assuming the bank ever hands anything over.

It was interesting today that Deutsche Bank did not deny the co-signers allegation nor did the WH in their angry response via twitter.

Not really. Bolsonaro's election was fueled in part by anti-globalist sentiment anyways so this just serves to justify those fears. Even those sympathetic to stricter rain-forest preservation see this as a Brazilian problem that doesn't need some condescending ex-banker (who isn't even terribly popular in his home country right now thank you very much) with a wry smile trying to teach them a lesson or whatever it is he's trying to prove.
