The problem with these influencers being coaches.....is they are not coaches. They are simply going I've got good doing this thing, I'll give you that = you get good. It's simple stuff that anyone can do
They have no idea what to actually do. Ben Felton is off trying to fill himself with carbs to train himself to take on more, completely missing the point of the test he just completed telling him how much he actually uses The science is there , he just ignores it , a good coach follows it. His mileage / recovery is all over the place and he just doesn't understand the basics well enough to be a coach. Kid can run , but coach , nope.
Floberg and oj. Really, this guy wants ppl to pay him ,
Fox... Swindle AI plans
Bester....same model except you get to look like an absolute wally in the bester kit
Fordy runs ....he doesn't really, he gives up most of the time and hasn't a clue how to actually structure a plan.
They don't actually care about athletes, they don't understand running and have no idea on the basics. I'd let Runna coach me over these flutes, and I think that should be banned.
this post along with several others over the past few pages on floberg are too accurate and really highlight how delusional and off his rocker the guy really is. your post is hilarious and a 10/10 and the sad reality is that your humorous analysis of him is 100% spot on regarding how floberg's mind likely works. the guy is not normal and he definitely has some superiority complex and has probably inflated his mental ego due to his running youtube channel and being a 'figure in the community'. icalling him out on everything that he does in hte video really illustrates how unbelievably dim the guy is. but he and his fans all continue to think he is an absolute genius and the man! i wonder if internally the guy realizes he's a clown himself and feels a bit silly, or if he legitimately thinks he's a superhero and is this knowledgeable training guru who know's what he's doing. probably the latter, unfortunately. he's aware of the 'haters' but i 'm sure he genuinely thinks the observations in this thread about him are wrong. hey floberg, they're not :) i continue to feel appalled to know this guy is charging 50+ people over $100/month for coaching services and likely making $20-$40k annually off of non-personalized 'coaching'. he should be embarassed and ashamed that he's doing that. i get it, america and gotta get your money while it's hot, but i find it pretty deplorable for these influencers to be coaching other adults. especially floberg when he makes it evident in all of his own videos and strava posts that he doesn't know what he's doing half the time and makes horrible training decisions. it's hilarious what internet 'fame' can do for a guy. laughable honestly.
I can't believe all these words were written about some guy on the internet that makes running videos.
This is a discussion thread about running youtubers.

Most of us on this thread are running fans who dislike people basically stealing money from gullible newbies. Floberg especially is a leech on the sport. He only started to "love the community" and make "core memories" when he hit sub 3. Before that he was running 40k a week and thinking he'd somehow magically get faster. These people are unqualified and are taking hard earned money from new runners who would make gains simply by simply being consistent and following any plan on the internet.

That's a really noble stance and all, and it would show me something if you were willing to board a flotilla to sail to Chicago to stop such atrocities. But unless you're willing to take such serious efforts to right these wrongs, I have no idea why you guys waste time and energy complaining so much about such a meaningless injustice.

Everything is meaningless, my good man. Everything is a waste of time and energy.

Kits he's using look goofy as hell. To begin with it look corny to match your shorts with the singlet completely, but when they are both have some wacky pattern and you're 6 foot guy it's over the top. I think his kits wouldn't look that out of place on a female. But for a big man it's clownlike. Not to mention the oversized cycling glasses. Dude, they are big for a reason, they shield your face better from wind and hard objects, also that design helps with visibility in aero position.

The Vitality 10K. Two of the most maligned YouTubers on here did it and PB’d despite sweltering conditions.
Both went sub 30 on Strava but missed out by a few seconds on the London results due to the course being long. Most people use their Strava times anyway though so if I were them I’d be claiming the sub 30.
This is a 10/10 troll.
You know how I know, because I'd have to fight very hard not to kick you in the throat if you sincerely said that in person.
Not trying to sh*t on anyone in particular... BUT, I just cant take hyper produced, overly professional running content seriously when its by an average (or even sub elite runner). Much prefer the more authentic feeling stuff. Leave the docuseries to Young, Sesseman and others.

That's why Ryan Thomson is so refreshing to watch in 2025 runfluencer land. He's just a really really good runner, documenting his running. Add to it a healthy dose of self-deprecating humour, along with his dad and his dose of Ryan-deprecating humour, and you've got the perfect package.
I mean, the guy put on how many pounds of water-weight by screwing up his salt intake spectactularly? Imagine Broberg had done the same. He'd for sure try to frame it as a "go one more" thing, making himself resilient, training his salt uptake or what have you. All while having production values far above, but runniny 20 minutes slower than Ryan.
Just seen the latest BenIR video. Must be confident going into Chicago after that performance.
I wanted to enjoy that. I like Ben, he doesnt take himself too seriously and think he's creating art like Floberg, he doesnt have kids and seemingly neglecting responsibilities like Kofuzi. Yes he shills products a bit too much but that allows him to run for a living and it’s easy to ignore - he's harmless. The issue with this video is that I've followed Ben for a few years because I like him and I like watching sub-elite level running. I dont want to watch his girlfriend jog about with her friend. No hate on her as a person, but if I wanted that, theres a million insta-running-girlies jogging about filming themselves on Instagram and Tik-tok. I dont go to Bens channel for that. Im all for him cheering on his GF and sister whilst having a de-brief to camera, after we've seen his race, but dont give her a camera. Such a bad video.
This is what happens to ugly dudes - they are so grateful for sx, even from an objectively ugly girls, that they give her their power. It’s his channel, his work, but she gets to quit her job and make it about her. Sad AF.

I'm a grumpy middle aged (38yo) man who has seemingly plateaued in his running journey, so get quite annoyed (out of bitterness probably) watching some of the YTbers (outside the seemingly universally loved RTJ & FOD), but I watched my first video of Ryan and loved it. Its a great pick.
Self depreciating and seems genuinely to enjoy the sport. Big thumbs up from me.

This is a crazy take.
Objectively it probably does take away from value to top end runners but replaces that with far more "average" runners. Makes business sense.
On a politeness level, what you've written is crock. It's random conjecture and pretty rude. They're in love, a partnership, and think it's a place alot of couples would aspire to be.

Agree on this one, also the 0-60 was quite sudden. Like has she ever had any kind of running segment before in one of his videos? Maybe give her a few lines in some other videos to be like 'Oh btw Meg's also training for this thing - how's it going?' before you give her a bit of screen time if you really must. Also give us some context in this video if you're insisting on her being in it, couldn't tell you how well she did, what her old PB was, how far off, what kind of training a 20 week block looks like for a pure hobbyjog girlie - if you introduce these things answer the obvious questions about them in the video. (This is also a wider complaint about a lot of non-specialist content creators, imagine what your content is like to your viewers - specifically the kind of person who watches your content. So for Ben's fan who is interested in the faster performing more training oriented content, what do I want to get out of the inclusion of Meg?)
Although ultimately I don't think it's something the channel needs, maybe with her quitting her job for it they feel she needs to be a bigger part of it - but like you say, what's the value add? It just makes the video jarring, the cutbacks to his race after her clips felt very low effort especially when this is probably one of the performances of his life.

That's some good button pushing!
Look mothy, the course was 6.7 miles long cos that's what GPS said so full kit tit and the other club runner were sub 30 for the 10k. So wind your neck in, find some bright lights and get pollinating.
Ben is in peak shape for Chicago. He’s trained very smart for this block, learnt from previous mistakes. Think he’s really maturing as a runner and coach. Clearly delves into the science of running and is a ‘professor of the sport’ which should stand him in good stead for his first sub 20
I'm not convinced he's going to nail Chicago. A look through his Strava shows a serious lack of quality long runs. No shade on his 10k, it's a great time and he's a quality runner, but I suspect he'll go in to Chicago full of confidence only to discover at 18 miles that he doesnt have the necessary endurance for the pace he goes out at. And we all know that pacing seems to be a recurring issue with the toobers.

What I find amazing is that the 3 most popular marathon plans for the mortals are probably JD 2Q, Pfitz and Hanson - All have at least 1 run of HM @ Marathon Pace - These Youtubers seem to even have very few sessions with that amount of MP in one go, and in some cases they dont even do it broken up such as a 5x4k or a 4x5k - I bet if Floberg or Ben followed Pfitz high mileage plan they'd improve. Instead they seem to be obsessed with fancy, complicated workouts that you just dont see, even by pros
