You're not black. You using the term therefore renders you a racist. And it is abundantly clear that you don't care.
The point is simply that some are offended by the use of the term and you insist on using it.
The rest of your diatribe seems only to suggest that you somehow link your insistence on using offensive terms with your blind campaign against some who would be offended by you doing so.
That is baloney, I can say whatever I want, whenever I want. Your political correctness has ruined the most simplest things in life, like comedy, for example. You are a cultural turd in the punchbowl.
You absolutely CAN say whatever you want whenever you want (short of yelling 'fire' in a crowded movie theater), but you can't do so without judgement. The racist concentration bubble you live in in Idaho is not the model you should follow.
Again, unless you are to become an insult comic, "blacks" should not be part of your vernacular. It's "black people" for you as a default. And, "nappy" shouldn't be used by you unless you are talking about taking a nap. The argument that X Group uses those words is a bogus one. If you're not in the group, then certain words and phrases are off limits to you...well, again, you can use them, but not without harsh judgement.
I’ve always thought of you, agip, as a voice of reason and intelligence on this thread. But it is obvious that you shares Igy’s definition of “woke” as it has been bastardized by the far right. I urge you to research the origins of word in Black culture. Maybe then you will realize one reason why so many here consider Igy to be a racist and why ‘woke’ can never go too far.
Thanks!
I think it's a mistake to go back and use an old definition of a term as meaningful in the present. If the definition has changed. And the definition of 'woke' has changed. It now represents a basket of tendencies focused on making race extraordinarily important and even the key element in defining who a person is. Judging a person by the color of his skin, if you will.
Also it encompasses the idea that we can pick and choose gender and sex as we please and even in sports sex is a construct.
And probably the idea of not fully prosecuting people for crimes out of some sense of racial sensitivity.
I could go on but race and gender are the main pieces.
Sure the word 'woke' meant something else a while ago. Like 'rock music' in the 50s and even 60s used to encompass what we call soul music and and even doo-wop. 'Rhythm and blues' used to mean one thing and now it means another.
So I'm not too interested in the original meaning of words, other than for historical interest. What matters is what a word means today. And to push back, many, many non far-right people feel that the modern version of 'woke' has gone too far.
Appreciate the kind words tho.

I was born and raised in California, not far from one of your possible retirement destinations. I would venture more than 50% of this country feels like I do, this is largely used as a tool by liberals like you. I would say using the word “cracker” like you did is far more racist than anything I ever posted. That and your fat shaming of Governor Huckabee, really only to express your political view. That is always what it is about with you. While conveniently ignoring 19.4 million Black babies aborted, and the decades Democratic policy of encouraging Black dependency for the sole purpose of preserving loyal voters.
let this be one in a series of pleas to keep the politics off the thread!
(yes I know I fell down on this recently)
Remember, my initial comment was that GME call trading was a reflection of American society, using Miss Alabama and Miss Maryland as further examples. So I think you might be advised to give the same addressing to Flagpole and the Troll of Registered Many Handles.

Would definitely agree with Agip on this. The Biden thread is a train wreck with only insults and name-calling. The posters here have generally been civil and respectful.
Here is a very informative article today from the NY Times which offers a comprehensive report from Apple's developer conference, held today, on how Apple will be incorporating AI into their product line. The developments sound to be very worthwhile and would improve some features that the iPhones seem to struggle with.
I just hope it works.
This may be behind a paywall, though I bet the story is available elsewhere.
Apple jumped into the race to bring generative artificial intelligence to the masses during its World Wide Developers Conference Monday that spotlighted an onslaught of features designed to soup up the iPhone, iPad and Mac.
Or, is it more correctly 10 companies while the remaining 490 not so much.
heh you could be right
but that's been one of the reasons the SP500 has been such a good index...it's had a rotating cast of leaders that keep shooting out the lights. If you think that will continue then there's little reason to worry about the SP500.
But yeah that might partly explain why small caps have been so terrible for 24 years.
This six-legged dog got cold feet on the Alfa...while it sounds like the perfect car for me in almost every way...I read too many accounts of weird electronic gremlins causing irritation and crisis. The main problem is that it sucks a lot of juice from the battery so leaving it undriven for weeks tends to drain the battery and leave you stranded. And a weak battery seems to cause many of afore-mentioned gremlins. And I do that sometimes.
So
I've diverted to a 2025 or 2026 purchase of a used Acura Integra Type S. Seems brilliant in terms of the driving experience. And it's reliable and bonus made in America. It's a lot to pay for a modified Honda Civic, but it has what I want in a car: usable speed, manual transmission, great handling, good sound, a backseat plus trunk.
My ultimate semi-realistic garage would still be the Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio and a Lotus Evora GT. One practical, one not so much. Someday.

here's one of those 'if you look inside the jobs number it's really bad.' This one from 6 months ago.
we see these tear-downs after each one of them.
We know now that growth has been fine and worrying about the components of the job report was not helpful.
Carl Quintanilla @carlquintanilla Today's jobs number "included 47,000 workers returning from strikes .. Stripping out that one-off boost .. 49,000 were government jobs with a further 77,000 in health care. Excluding those non-cyclical sectors, the economy added only 26,000 jobs, which adds to the evidence that .. growth is slowing to a crawl .." @CapEconUS #NFP 9:23 AM · Dec 8, 2023 · 278.1K Views
Apple is not a high growth innovative company, and has not been for years. I have illustrated the facts on this many times. Buying back your stock, and increasing your prices is not a high growth innovative company. It slowing growth and maintenance of market share. The stock will be under $100 within a year.
