Philly B and Rory need to start a podcast. Their banter is hilarious
I'm yet to see anything in recent videos that suggests Rory wants to spend any time with Phily. There was an awkward exchange in her last video where she seemed to want to describe her improved fitness by how long it took him to overtake her. He didn't seem to think she was comparing apples with apples and I doubt she would have included the footage if it was one of the other unknown (to YouTube) runners.
There's got to be a lot of individual variation doesn't there? My ideal race temp is 3-8c whilst my best team mate is 10-15c. I just don't bother racing anything over 5k outside Nov-March as I have an unusually large performance decrement. 19c humid and sunny I would definitely struggle, but then again I wouldn't bother entering knowing that.
Agreed. No better time than "no time" to talk about Flobergs new video. The best part was when his son said he wasn't elite lol. Real ego hit to Floberg there.
Honestly Floberg seems to just be tired and miserable right now. Also, the fact that he messed up his coach's prescribed 6x1.5 mile workout and instead did 3x1.5 mile twice was 100% intentional and he definitely wanted to show himself doing an epic double threshold workout.
This is was the first time I've managed to sit through the entirety of a Floberg vid in a while and I must say, wow. I've read all of your comments about his ego getting out of hand and his lack of intelligence around grasping the nuances of running, even after all this time and I was not dissapointed. My personal highlights were when he randomly decided he wanted to do a double threshold and when his son said an elite time was 2:18 and Floberg left it hanging there while it cut to him running on a treadmill as the video came to an end, clearly foreshadowing what he thinks he can get to in the next few years.
I'm all for having big goals but Christ man, just actually hit your goal time in a race first. He clearly doesn't understand that even if he were to run 2.26/27 in Chicago - that jump to sub 2.20 is gigantic.

Jumping from 2:32 to sub 2:30 is a pretty drastic jump in of itself, let alone 12-13 more minutes down to sub 2:20. This is my opinion, but this is where overuse and overexertion injuries take place, when trying to make a jump. The constant pressing not just physically, but mentally too, is extremely taxing on the body.

The guy made huge gains after his sub 3 simply because he'd never been consistent. He put together a consistent block and knocked 10 mins off his PB. He did it again the next marathon. He thinks it's that easy. He doesn't understand he was probably capable of a 2:40 3 or 4 years ago when he wasn't loving running and hitting 30/40 miles a week and turning ups for Chicago every year thinking he was in sub 3 shape. He still has no idea what shape he's in all these years later. He has learnt nothing. He doesn't understand anything about running, his own training, the concepts of training or how he has gotten where he is. He sits in a darkened room talking to camera like he is imparting this wisdom but he hasn't a clue about where his fitness is, how to run a marathon or how to train. It's crazy anyone has any time for the man.
The more you listen to him you get the impression he is a really dim person.
The Special Athlete has a beautiful video out today where he has an insane half marathon battle with a port-a-potty where he manages to take a 20 second(!!!!) dookie. He even includes the poop sounds for us!
The Vitality 10K. Two of the most maligned YouTubers on here did it and PB’d despite sweltering conditions.
Both went sub 30 on Strava but missed out by a few seconds on the London results due to the course being long. Most people use their Strava times anyway though so if I were them I’d be claiming the sub 30.
