15:00 carefully (monitoring my sore calf) in a pair of those NIKE vintage Daybreaks. Felt very different not to have all the 'improvements' that they put on shoes today.

I imagine minimalists may smile at that.

Looooong run today; 20+ miles along the shore road. Hot, but the seabreeze really helped.

Friday: 30 minutes including 10x1-minute pickups with 1 minute recovery. Trashed with the humidity.

Today (Saturday): 15 minutes recovery day with last half mile at decent tempo. Felt much better than yesterday.

Maybe tempo runs are superior to intervals?

Was in a 24 hour race, was pulled out at 5 1/2 hours ( it was 90 degrees with ridiculous humidity), came back after some hours and did another 2 hours and I felt great, then it started pouring out and they called the race because of lightning. Worst race I've ever done, ever.

Today's run:

Newport 'hill' run, 24:30. W-up 4:14; pick up for 5:11; jog 0:37; hard up hill 3:51; 0:57 recovery; steady hard for 9:38 to finish.

Short dist. with some hard running AHR 147 MHR 160.

Ultras, they say these are easier to run than marathons, but....the elements, the route, anything can happen. Hopethe next 24 hr. one pans out better for you.

60 min tempo

Walked the dog, then walked a bit to warm up as the calf was acting up last PM, ran a tempo mile, then walked some more to warm down totalling 30:00.

The deerflies are getting really aggressive now, I killed at least 4 of them that were flying around my head.

Very humid now.

I'm really envious of anyone who can run in excess of 75mpw and not get sick or injured.

2hrs 10 mins off road. Nice run. Very muddy!

Today;

Over same route with an addition. A 36:47 easy run. AHR 131 MHR 142.

Soaking wet, rainy 10-mile run.

NEVER EVER argue with lightning. I've had two near misses. Too bad your race was kaput, but at least you're around to write about it.

Hoping for more, but felt a little twinge about 20 minutes into today's run. Walked home and iced, but it's still a tad sore several hours later. Looks like a trip to the DL for me. Hopefully it'll heal fast.

Now I understand why I was so skinny when I ran cross country. Went only 5 miles and I was dying
