Tim Grose’s "Running Influencers Round-Up" video isn’t just a video...
I guess this makes a change from you "waxing lyrical" about Bester. The difference is, for the most part, people her enjoy Tim's videos, whereas they enjoy Besters equally as much as they enjoy yours.
Enjoyed the video as always Tim, but I did raise an eyebrow with you saying that Matt Rees had had a consistent build up - from his strava he seemed to be bottling every other session or long run?
And sure maybe it was the lack of long runs as he's claimed in his video, or maybe its that he blows himself to bits every 3-6 months and takes extended time off? Tenner says he'll have multiple 0 mile weeks between now and Valencia, and the same before London, and the same before Berlin next year.
5 x mile w/1/2 mile float (5:25, 5:19, 5:24, 5:24, 5:26) *puke right before 2nd mile*
1.5 down @ 6:58/mi
Best long run workout. Only 1:50 of stop time for pee, puke, and water refill"
Let's normalise puking during a workout shall we? Totally fine and nothing to be concerned about
I don't understand this workout at all. Especially 2 weeks out. 2:26 pace? Was he meant to run 2:30 pace but went too fast? I don't think even 2:26 pace should make you want to vomit. Especially with HR 85% of max (if you believe his max is 190 as he has stated)
It's a weird one. The only way it makes sense to me is if he's in 2:26 shape. Maybe 2:27. But even that doesn't make sense because the floats should be 6:15-6:45 or so. 7:00 at the absolute slowest. I wonder if he had a 6:45 pace target for all of the floats and he hit it on the first one (6:43), but faded on the rest (7:10, 6:56, 7:36, 7:42, 8:04). I think the slow floats reveal the truth. He might be more aerobically fit but his legs are dead. Doing this 2 weeks out instead of 3 didn't help.
Gotta hit 5:25 pace even if the floats become jogs in NO:TIME
Floberg, this training is absolutely perfect for baiting you into a huge positive split. Run the first half at 5:50 pace!! Negative split for the 2:30. Go sub 2:30 another day.
