AOC and Talib and those folks are backbenchers, not all that important. I have no idea what they say and do. Only care a little. No idea what the current issue is.
But right wing media tells the rubes that AOC is the leader of the Dem party, and tells the hicks to disregard the actual leaders of the Dem party.
And with trumpers taking over more and more media, that's going to spread.
The New York Times says she’s the second most likely candidate in 2028. She is a leader of the Democrat party, whether you like it or not.
The real reason the right chases AOC around the globe looking for sound bites is to distract from having to cover Trump. (Epstein coverup, bombing Iran, tariff train wreck, Job losses, Concentration camps, ballroom, manufacturing decline or any of the other stupid things Trump does during one week)

betting odds have her as just 10% likely to be the Dem nominee for president. Just 10%.
Does that sound like a leader of the party to you? Doesn't to me.

New York Times today:
Guida: Here are the full results of the draft, and then we can continue in categories: (1) Newsom, (2) Ocasio-Cortez, (3) Buttigieg, (4) Gretchen Whitmer, (5) Ruben Gallego, (6) Josh Shapiro, (7) Wes Moore, (8) Harris, (9) Cory Booker, (10) Raphael Warnock, (11) Jon Ossoff, (12) Mark Kelly, (13) Jon Stewart, (14) JB Pritzker, (15) Andy Beshear, (16) Ro Khanna, (17) Amy Klobuchar, (18) Chris Murphy.
I think it would be funny if Buttigieg is the nominee. He’d get low minority support and the media would be falling over themselves to explain why without actually saying it…

no one is paying any attention to what AOC, Buttigieg, whitmer, gallego or shapiro is saying. They aren't leading the party.
I mean no Dems.
Newsom is the only Dem who is close to leading the party. But he's not doing a great job of it.
Maybe after midterms things will start to sort out better.

Right wing politics must have a recognized enemy at all times. This allows them to say, Yes my guy may be crapping the bed every day but look at _______.
They get real mad when the left does not have a chosen candidate so the right just picks the one they want to attack. A female brown person is red meat to MAGA.
There is no need for the Dems to annoint anyone this far out because it just helps the right. Remember how bad Spanky cried when Joe Biden dropped out. He had spent so much time and energy attacking Biden that it "wasn't fair" that he now had to create new attacks so late in the game.
the one Dem getting national attention is Talarico in Texas.
like Beto a few cycles ago, he's a young charismatic good talker.
Beto flamed out but let's see if Talarico can do better. Talarico's timing is perfect - a blue wave, lots of media attention to him, and likely running against Paxton, who is a deeply flawed candidate and beatable.

I see we are trusting the New York Times again....
In a letter sent to Apple CEO Tim Cook, Federal Trade Commission Chair Andrew Ferguson warns the tech giant may be in violation of the FTC Act over alleged Apple News bias.
Trump is following Victor Orban's model to a T. I hope you like modern day Hungary because that is what Trump is shooting for.
Like Trump, Orban is in for an election he should lose...will be interesting to see what Orban does to stay in power by subverting democracy. Trump will get ideas from that. Hungary election is in April.
Wild that Rs admire anti-democracy guys like Orban and Trump now. Not great.
As of January 2026 Trump has inflation down to 2.4%. The Feb. #s won't be in until March 11. I am pretty sure Trump's 2.4% is better than what Biden had it in June 2022 - 9.1%.

I like Talarico and think you may be right, but here are some issues:
- He's picked a fight with Crockett and is already trending negatively in some circles of the internet.
- He's a minister and "some" are calling him a Christian Nationalist. I put the some in quotes because it is morons on Reddit and Twitter, but could he possibly lose voters because of this?
I am not fighting with you. Just bringing up two hurdles that are immediately apparent scrolling through social media. We'll see how they play out.
The party needs to keep their powder dry, though I also think the effort of stress testing Newsom is a good thing. He isn't doing particularly well and that is good to know in 2026 as opposed to Summer of 2028.
Old news. Maybe if you could afford an iPhone you would have seen this two weeks ago on your Apple News feed (I did). It’s not Apple’s fault that the majority of conservatives are unable to read and are too poor to afford Apple products. There’s a less than a 0% chance of this going anywhere - just the trump administration wasting money while we’re $38T in debt.

Why has core PPE - the Fed’s preferred measure of inflation - risen since Trump took office?
We know Trump left Biden a sh*tty economy. Biden brought the trumpflation down from 9.1% to under 3%. Trump has inflation rising again - and he sure as sh*t didn’t bring prices down.
