Seems to me that to preserve a balance of powers the congress must use its power to impeach when a president commits high crimes/misdemeanors. Not doing so hands yet more power to the executive branch. And they have too much already.

CORRECT! It also gives too much power to the Senate. The Senate already has more power in this case as there needs to be 2/3 majority to convict. The House should not kowtow to the Senate.

This of course goes against what the most insane Trumpers here have said. I won't mention names because that's not how I roll, and I no longer respond to or mention by name the most insane Trumpers here...and you know who you are.

No I don't, because convicting someone after they leave office sends a very strong message and a valuable precedent.

Here's my concern, you have seen how republican leaders and trump supporters have responded to the most heinous behavior from Trump. The impeachment will only make them come to his defense even more so and will create even more extreme tribalism. Nothing will be revealed that will change his supporters feelings and those against Trump already feel pretty strong.

Yes I would love to see him held accountable and go through impeachment but lets play long ball and get him after he is out of office. I am with Nancy on this.

Well, I see that as a bet (your "disclaimer" means nothing other than to display that you don't know what a disclaimer is), but even if I accepted your faulty premise that it isn't a bet, why would I agree to that?

The only answer to me NOT doing that is "put up or shut up", and THAT is a bet. I do not bet because that is low class, and I do not deal in false machismo.

I make predictions. Most are right (the VAST majority). Some are wrong. And I admit to the ones that are wrong because I have 100% integrity 100% of the time.

PS I am for keeping the pressure on with further investigations.

I actually flip the other way on this.

Going after previous political leaders after they are out of office is very third world and destabilizing.

Whereas going after them with the courts while they are in office is not, because it is using systems put in place to prevent lawless politicians.

I think prosecuting your political enemies in the courts after they leave is fraught. Although we'll have to do it in this case.

And I'm not sure Nancy is so anti-impeachment. We'll see by October - that's the last time it could really start I think.

Actually, using "such language" has been shown NOT to be a sign of higher intelligence -

Now, you might say there's a difference between intelligence and class, and technically you would be correct there, but I use bad language sparingly and only where deserved. This a$$hole President and stupid-ass Trump supporters deserve the language.

I also have never called a woman a "whore" here. I called a particular one a "gold-digging whore". Whores exist. There is a word that describes them. I have also called Trump a whore and even said he was more of one than Melania. You attempting to protect women just shows your need for a paternalistic society which is the view of a weak man. I view them all as equals.

I also agree that Nancy isn't definitely anti-impeachment. Not so sure on the time frame, but they do need to move sooner rather than later if they are going to do it.

Trump has done a lot of stupid things in his life, because he is a stupid, stupid man, but the stupidest of them all was running for President. He could have kept just playing golf even more than he does now (he sucks at it too), kept his wealthy lifestyle leveraged to the hilt, and he would have a greater percentage of people in the world today still thinking he was a successful businessman...AND he likely would not be facing prison.

Impeachment is a political gamble. But do we really know that "Nothing will be revealed"?

The Watergate hearings revealed that there were tapes. The tapes revealed that Nixon was a crook.

Nancy knows more than we do. She is juggling a lot of things. For instance, she is smart to get that budget deal done before starting a formal impeachment inquiry. If impeachment is started, Tiny won't sign the budget.

If impeachment is going to happen, it needs to start in September. Like you, I trust Nancy to do the right thing.

Do you only read headlines? I think that may be why you end up looking so foolish all the time.

They decided not to prosecute Comey ONLY FOR THE "LEAKING CLASSIFIED MEMOS" issue.

It was a potential CRIMINAL REFERRAL from the IG's office. Re-read that. The IG referred Comey's actions to Barr for prosecution. These were admitted acts by Comey. And yet, Barr decided not to, because the memos weren't designated as classified until after Comey leaked them, and intent would be hard to prove. Prosecuting something as minor as this would look petty and vindictive.

This has nothing to do with 1) the clear FISA abuses that occured under Comey, or 2) how the Russia Collusion Hoax and subsequent obstruction of justice setup by Mr Comey were set in motion.

But THAT'S where Comey is in trouble. And THAT'S what Barr is having his team look into.

They used an opposition research document- which was paid for by Clinton and funneled through Perkins-Coie and Fusion GPS- to spy on a presidential campaign. The person they said they needed to spy on, by the way, was never charged with anything (C Page)! These are the facts.
