I gotta say I feel he's really screwed for Chicago. He has run so little quality in this block I feel like there's no way he's actually following his coach's training. In the past two weeks his only workouts have been 400m reps two weeks ago and 1.5 mile reps this week.
Oh for sure. I don't quite get it. It's peak time before the race and yeah he hasn't done many quality workouts. He did a 5,4,3,2,1 workout with his buddy but that definitely was not in his coaches plan. 400m repeats 5 weeks out from the marathon? Don't get that either. Okay yeah he had his HM a few weeks ago but excluding that I'm confused at his coaches plan. High mileage but lacking in quality workouts. Who knows I could be wrong.
Even the 54321 was at his "buddies" sub 3 pace so should have been quite easy for Floberg.
After his marathon in March Floberg averaged about 78k, 48 miles per week through April, May and June. For some reason, rather than base build or concentrate on speed work he messed about for about 5 weeks after the marathon then panicked with some high mileage before Bayshore and Grandma's before this block. Both of those marathons I've no idea why he ran them.
His training now, at the main peak of this training block comes across as what he should have been doing over the summer. He hasn't ran a 5k or 10k for well over a year. He's obsessed with running lots of slow mileage. When did he even run a fully tapered half?
He's probably running himself into an injury, RED-S or just wasting all this time. He'd be better off running less easy miles and adding in some quality.
Honestly, if he followed one of the JD 2Q programs he'd probably PR
New YouTuber and coach Gabriel Smith runs 2:43 after targeting 2:25. Oof… maybe altitude training is not the one.
hes undoubtedly bottom 5 worst youtuber in the game.
cant sit through anymore of his dull, boring voiceovers. the guys a plank, not a lot going on up top literally sounds like hes falling asleep himself, what does he expect any viewers to do? a man who clearly has nothing going on in life, desperately trying to carve out some £££ to fund a dream of being a mediocer hobby jogger
He seems like a nice young fella who just got his accountancy qualifications under his belt and now has the opportunity to spend the next, say 5 years having fun as a running YouTuber. Once that dries up he can go back to a 9-5 as a chartered accountant and make a good stable income.
Who else wouldn’t do that in their 20s if they had the opportunity? From what I’ve seen he’s a decent runner (sub 2:30 after 4-5 years training I think?) who trains hard and doesn’t mindlessly shill supplements etc.
Wouldn’t be a huge fan of the videos but he seems so utterly inoffensive, people should give him a break. Shame he’s had a poor last two marathons but plenty of time for him to get back on track.

There’s so many clowns out there who actually deserve to be laughed at, the worst thing you could say about this fella is he’s maybe a little boring (living up to the stereotypes about accountants I guess!).
Don’t get why he’s been getting all the hate in this thread recently
It's really easy to criticize his past training for being way too hard for his ability but for the most part he was able to hit 2 quality sessions a week all while running consistent 70-80 mile weeks. So instead of progressing on that he just increases his mileage randomly and cuts all the quality. I just feel like he's confused himself.
you will only appear in the BTF coach directory if you are a member of BTF (or home nation). However the included insurance does not cover you if you earn more than £5k(?) a year from coaching so for many coaches it's not worth being a member
There’s a UK based athlete who shares his training on YouTube called BenIsRunning. His most recent video documents a 4 x 5K marathon workout and he wins a parkrun on his 4th rep 😂 that’s a sign of talent!

Don’t worry, hovebummer hates everyone. I wouldn’t take it too personally!
He’s a good lad, I’ve always enjoyed his reels. I’m sure he’s disappointed with the marathon time after the work that’s been put in himself.
You put yourself and your training out there for everyone to see you got to expect some commentary and opinion whether it goes good or bad! Its a shame some people on this board think they are ard and leave personal comments about individuals but that’s the internet for you.
The ones that twig me though, are the messy happy folks
- I have to assume their sports science degrees are real, since both of them ended up qualified and employed in PE-adjacent school subjects, up to and including Head of Sports and Head of PE, which is wild considering the wacky things they say in their videos -
but Mr Messy Happy sells himself with a FA Rank 3/UEFA B certificate and a British Triathlon Level 3 coach, and he appears in neither coach directory (admittedly because the FA coach directory doesn't exist anymore, but British Triathlon is still out there) - which might very well be that he let them lapse when he moved abroad, but why sell yourself with them then? And why not become accredited with an organisation in the country you live? And Mrs Messy Happy claims a UESCA running coach qualification, a US based certification, wild choice for people based in Thailand, but she doesn't show up in their coach directory.
That is three claimed certifications, NONE of which lists the Bridges as certified coaches.
Watch Cole's latest YT video (13:40s). He discusses how he gets home and has to write coaching plans for the athletes (plural) and how that leaves him wired and he cant sleep
Has anyone watched the channel Run The Planet? It's only small but the guy is running ridiculous mileage and 40k long runs with 3 x 10k at marathon pace and doesn't seem to be getting any quicker than a 3:30 marathon!. He blew up at Barcelona this weekend
I want to bump this. is consistently the most underperforming, sandbagging running youtuber I've watched. Though it's a very small channel, he regularly puts out videos of the kinds of workouts mentioned above, or 20x400m, (relatively) high mileage weeks, etc, and I don't think he's ever actually gone below 3:30-something, while claiming to be shooting for sub 3 for maybe 3-4 marathons now.

Most recently he ran Berlin and blew up bigly, claiming to have gotten a cramp at 36k or something (like almost every race he's ever run), and sandbagging with the higher than expected forecast (again, like every race he's ever done). Yet, I can't stop watching.

I saw one of this videos from about 4 months back when he was running some stupid long run and even The Great John Broom commented attempting to give advice (which was ignored) a commentor also mentioned if Run The Planet had ever considered following something like a Pfitzinger plan and the guy hadn't even heard of him.
You would think simply running 100+ km per week would be enough to dip under 3:30 at the least. Every video he has cramps or something goes wrong. He hasnt done anything at the shorter distances to suggest sub 3 is anywhere on the horizon
I wonder how he's even paying for all of these trips abroad.

He also claimed in a previous video that he had worked 'effectively from 7am until 9pm'
So what he says about his work obviously isn't true.
It is endemic amongst influencers to try and show off about how hard they supposedly work.

At least he is an osteopath so does have some resemblance of a job. Benisrunning, welsh etc., seemingly don’t do anything.

'i feel like I'm working 7am till 9pm everyday' hahaha
Distinctly different from 'I am working 7am till 9pm everyday'
Why do they want people to think their lives are really hard? Why not say 'i work part time, I run and make videos about it and I get a load of cool stuff for free because of it. Hope you enjoy following along'
'ill only advertise things that are genuinely helpful and useful and I believe in. Not just any old company who want to throw money at me I've got more integrity than that'
'heres a brand new pointless app that very roughly guesses what shape your in based off nothing much at all. It's amazing'

To be fair to RTP he did run a hugely impressive time at the Great North Run a couple of weeks prior to Berlin. Think the absolutely brutal, extreme heat in Berlin meant he didn’t get what he deserved there but I’m sure with his training he will crack the sub 3 soon and then move on to targeting the sub 2:30.

Great to hear from you, Matt
GNR - Wonderful plan "what a race ! (broke timing chip) No official time just from the watch 😔 as I hole punched though the timing chip (oops) 😆 oh well, watch is pretty accurate. Cracking run. Plan was 11k at MP, managed that in 3 stints, on the downs, easy on the ups"
Runs the downhills at MP then slows it down uphill! Amazing tactic

he also revealed in the same vid he only works 13 hours per week. not surprising considering he often does double thresh hold at 10am then 4pm - clearly has a lot of time to fill as osteopath patients wont be coming back every week, he will have big gaps during working hours.
it is his choice, he doesnt have to work or coach - he lives at home with mummy. he could also "work" at a clinic closer to home or work at home for some extra pocket money.
