I disagree on the extent of the impact of the underlying economic issues. If Trump was president right now, all Rs would believe that we have an awesome economy, and that inflation is the D's fault. People's perception can be very untethered to reality and this plays a much bigger role than the objective reality.
Yes exactly, and you'd be talking about how bad inflation is and why it's Trump's fault.
And now on to the difference between trumpers and Ds. Conservatives are much more sensitive to fear mongering while Ds are more passive about how horrible things are. In other words, blaming the other side and selling the glass half empty is much more effective in motivating R voters. So again, Ds are inherently disadvantaged with this type of politics. When you look at actual economic and stock market performance under R and D presidents, Ds are a clear winner and yet the country votes for Rs also.

Get over it... you trump humpers are real salty losers. You don't move on from your silly propaganda and things that happen in the real world. When trump won in 2016 by lying 24/7, hiding his p0rn star affair, hush money payments, and getting assists from Putin and Comey - we accepted the loss and moved on in a couple of weeks. Meanwhile, it's been almost 4 years since trump lost and you just can't accept it.

oh, we will be a movin' on for sure, most likely with a few democrat heads in the noose while we are at it. Cheaters are never accepted, and overcoming 1 in a quadrillion odds at 3 am with unverified ballots is a pretty hard tale to accept. lets see if youve come around and grown up a bit this Nov.

You are assuming that most voters are doing any thinking for themselves. That is incorrect. They are listening to their X / facebook feed that only tells them what will get them clicking and that means what will make them angry, facts or not.
Example 1: Talking to a guy at a car show. Highly skilled blue collar, travels a lot, gets paid very well. Has about 10 classic cars, first one bought in 2020. Said he'd take a pay cut to work locally. Then goes off on the terrible economy, dementia Joe and longs for the good ol Trump days. He is ignoring the facts of his own life in favor of right wing media.
Example 2: Getting work done at a shop, owner tells me he is so busy it is going to take extra time and cost 25% more than 2 yrs ago. Says he is having a difficult time hiring people even for substantially higher wages than a few years ago, but his profits are way up. Then talks about the terrible economy. Media feed overriding his own reality.
When you say “voters don’t think for themselves,” what I hear is “there’s no rational explanation for people to not agree with my views.” Do you not think there are smart Republicans? There are incredibly smart people on both sides. There’s always going to be brainwashing, but no one sees the brainwashing done that’s done to them. The brainwashing done to you is perceived by you as knowing the truth and being right. You complain about some right wingers media feed and don’t recognize that you have curated your own bias affirming media feed.
But the meat of his post appeared to have little or nothing to with HIS views. Presuming, hopefully, that he was fairly accurately viewing the relative economic success of those 2 individuals. He saw 2 people apparently doing very well economically, who were nonetheless convinced that the economy was hosed. One can question exactly what those anecdotes mean, and how representative they are, but I don't see how they're tainted by "his view." Nor how his telling of these stories would have been directly caused by any brainwashing OF HIM.
And about media, seriously? The equivalency stuff coming from people who ought to know much better is exhausting. Let's imagine that he has mainstream, left-leaning sources. And "the others" have current right wing media feeds. HE WINS. No question. More lies, less lies. More bias, less bias. More Trumpism, less Trumpism.
Thing is, when you rattle off the many, many absurd things that Trump and his sycophants easily sell to 30-40% of the population, you simply can't find anywhere near that number of equally un-true/inaccurate things successfully being sold to the other 60-70%. In fact, I think that you'd have a hard time getting to 2 or 3 truly equivalent things.
And remember, we're talking about equivalent to election was stolen, COVID will just go away, Mexico will pay for the wall, I didn't try to extort 11,000 Georgia votes, I didn't shake down the leader of Ukraine for a dirty political favor, I didn't say to lock up my political rival MANY times.......
As pointed out so, so many times, there IS no equivalency. In quantity or magnitude.
A competition of who is being lied to more seems like a race to the bottom. Trump is really good at pointing out hypocrisy and finding equivalents to the dumb stuff he says and what liberals say. You say Trump shook down Ukraine. Trump points out that the US has been meddling in Ukrainian politics for many years.
I don't understand what your first sentence means. But there is NO competition regarding who is being lied to more.
I've never noticed that Trump is good at pointing out hypocrisy. And perhaps part of the reason is that it's GREATLY out-shined by his own hypocrisy?
As mentioned in another post, there are few, if any, recent D/liberal/moderate equivalents to the "dumb stuff he says." I understand if you don't want to play, and you obviously don't owe me anything, but seriously, can you find non-Trump equivalents to a significant number Trump's worst lies and absurdities? (election theft, COVID, etc.)
Your Ukraine comments are perfect, unfortunately, examples of false equivalencies. Trump shook him down. It's in the text. One doesn't negate that in the least bit by broadly pointing that the U.S. had and has exerted diplomatic or other forms of influence in Ukraine (like ALL countries - and yes, particularly powerful countries - have been doing for eons.....it's kinda why the State Department exists). And even if they ARE somehow the same, why is it that most or all modern presidents have never been caught saying something like that?
I'll answer: Because Trump is TRULY different. Uniquely bad. It's not sophisticated or wise to come to other conclusions.
Rs claim they want the Biden audio tapes to make sure they match the transcripts. If that's the case, they could just appoint a special master to do that. But no, they obviously want to get their hands on anything they might be able to use to campaign against him and Ds.... nope, ain't gonna get it. The WH is simply exercising the executive privilege trump humpers love so much. Cry harder trumpkins!

Correct. We have never had such a proud lying POS criminal like Trump in the WH. Any attempt to establish some kind of equivalence between trump and Biden or any former president is pure insanity and cult thinking.

So deviating from MSM’s perception of trump is cultish? lol peek-a-boo

Oh so now his actual behaviors, crimes and words are "MSM perception"? Even trump is telling you he doesn't give a damn about you and just needs your votes, and you continue firmly worship him.
Thanks, Joe. even if American economic success makes the Republicans very sad it’s the right thing to do.
"Since the end of 2019...America’s economy has grown by about 8% in real terms. [Meanwhile], the euro area has expanded by only 3%, Japan a piddling 1% and Britain not at all. America is the only big economy that is back to its pre-pandemic growth trend."

Any Democrats who know what they are talking about would not. Inflation is not that bad right now. It's JUST a tad higher than historic norms, and WAY down from where it was. The fact is that the economy remains robust. Still jobs everywhere. Still better than "full employment" rate of 5% unemployment. Wages have eclipsed inflation. No recession in sight. New record high close for the S&P 500 today which allows those in the market (especially retired ones) to open their wallets.
Trump is going to lose. He's going to get sh!tcanned. Headwinds are too strong against him...34 felony convictions, the abortion issue that he so clearly takes credit for (the minority side), the 13 Keys are heavily against him. Americans on the whole want to continue our Democratic Republic. Americans don't want a dictator. We want the rule of law to be enforced. We want smart people, not Marjorie Taylor Greene.
