Looks like they sure could use some of those distance points at the SEC level, anyway. That would probably have more of an impact and allow them to compete at the conference level, which is something they haven't been too strong at in recent years.

The scholarships to get those points have to come from somewhere. It's always nice to get points, but know what you're good at. Who wants to run distance in 100 degrees and 80% humidity? I'm sure mouse wouldn't trade one of his national championships for 5 SEC titles

I dont see Vanhoy taking the job, even if it pays alot of money. He has a good thing going at Ole Miss, they will do very well in XC and in the MD/Distance events on the track. Florida wont put any money in mens distance.

CMU is going to be very stupid and give the director job to perpetual loser Matt Kaczor, their current distance coach/bumbling moron.

I agree that Vanhoy wouldn't be the right fit for the Florida program. Maybe they would like a guy like khadevis who could potentially keep them stocked with 800m talent.

Why is the Florida job opening? Paul has been pretty good there with limited resources.

I've heard that UT is canning the entire coaching staff and promoting Tonja to head coach. That's another prominent job that will be open.

Khadevis firing before championship season. Wonder what he did that was so egregious that warranted that. If you check out his Facebook or Instagram (or the auto follow bot he purchased on twitter) it is strange. He also makes no mention of not being employed by LSU and still has his Facebook listed as a job at louisian state

Oh & there's no way KD was let go at LSU for lack of XC success if he's gone...they care about XC about as much as Portland cares about the javelin.

I agree. Paul has done a good job with limited resources. I also agree with a previous post about Florida winning NCAA championships without distance points, so why invest resources.

Remember, this is about the women as well. They have previously invested in talent on that side and got a good return in points.

A few years ago UF spent money on the South African kid. He was valuable on the conference and national levels, but got in trouble.

The Gators invest in the throws and for good reason.

It's not an easy job. High expectations and high visibility, at least in the college track world.

Holloway coaches the 800 group any way. It will be an interesting hire.

They may not invest much money in the cross programs, but Shaver knows the talent is there to finish better than next to last at SEC. He excused Elliott since Mark brought in a ton of Caribbean athletes. KD contributed dick in recruiting so he was expected to produce results in races.

They were 8th and 8th at SECs in XC. The SEC isnt a XC power by any means. They also have 7 international distance girls on their roster that are most likely on big scholarships

Must be tough when the young guy down the road destroyed him all year in xc and had a guy qualify for xc nats. He also coached jack Bruce who won sec indoor 3k and has been 2x all American in xc.

This is ridiculous. Bumbling? Moron? Loser?! Matt Kaczor is a stand up guy. He's always been a nice person who certainly doesn't deserve people smearing his name on these message boards. I've very few people who care as much and coach with as much passion as this guy. It does seem he gets screwed with a few APR issues here and there, but come on. Why rip the guy for doing his best?

UT wants tonja to takeover. Better than dealing with Mario who out the program under so much scrutiny. I'd expect there to be a change in the program at seasons end.

What other candidates will emerge for LSU? The job paid khadevis base 75k. Plus bonuses, a free car, etc. The job is worth a lot more. Expect some high profile applicants looking for a sweet pay raise.
