D3 Atlantic Region 2012 XC

I have correctly picked 31 out of 32 of the team for the last three years at Nationals by looking EXCLUSIVELY at the regional results. It is clear to me (rules or not) that the committee is considering how teams do relative to others in their region at the regional meets to determine 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 representatives.

It is very easy to figure out who has "points" in an at large system. First off you need to beat teams out of region, so you better go to New England or Oberlin or down south to race people other than your neighbors in upstate NY or Southern Jersey. It also has to happen basically in October, not mid September. There is a reason tons of schools go to Oshkosh, Oberlin, and in the past Lacrosse for big meets on the weekend that falls 4 weeks prior to regionals.

If you cant travel, you better beat or race well against teams that did go out of region and do well, so for AR purposes Geneseo and NYU are really the only two who have done so. SO beating them or being close to them in place or point gap will weigh in ones favor at decision time. NYU will get another chance to help or hurt their and the regions chances when they run UAA this weekend. (UR can also help or hurt themselves, but they did already lose to Carnegie at CMU meet few weeks back)

The rankings arent supposed to carry weight, any shouldnt. Anyone who thinks they arent biased by historical performance isnt paying attention. The midwest right now has way to many men's teams in the top 25, but time will truly tell.

Right now the AR looks like it deserves and will get 4 teams, 5 would be a stretch and the 3-5 teams would all need to be very close in score for that to happen most likely. Lastly, having a good rep (slu coach right now) who can push the right results and how teams performed goes a long way. The rep needs to be on top of it and not be passive or they will gt run over by the midwest reps.

I would think that D3 would want to steer clear of any kind of D1-like points system, because it would be against the the D3 concept of staying (mostly) local and reducing sports expenditures.

I know everyone is really looking forward to YACs, but that UAA meet, as you said, could be about as important as any out-of-region meet could be--as far as the AR's chances for five teams (which I actually think are pretty good chances, but I don't follow the whole AR well enough to have an educated opinion).

The NCAA rep (Kate from SLU) and the USTFCCCA rep (angelo from oneonta) are two completely different positions.

Did you guys hear about David gearys party on Saturday?! Huge party! Guess they gave up on regionals!! That's ok there is a lot of competition at the top. Guess this lessens it up.

Not sure who Alexander the Great is except for that guy in history. For individuals at SUNYACs the safe bet would be Geneseo's Alex Brimstein. Other than that you have Cortland's top three vs Tom Clark for 2nd place. And only these five have a chance to win. Geneseo has won the team and individual title since 2009. Time for a change?

Hahahaha....Brimstein will destroy field. Clark will be second, and then some random dudes will try to run fast times. Actually Geneseo might sweep, depends if they want to or not. Heard it here first.

Who will be the first freshman though? That's the question.
