Jack Rayner going to Kenya later this year (as per Krisso from Norway on IRP patreon) - after the routine swing through the UK to pick up some appearances fees to line Bidders' pockets.
Crazy that a Norwegian ex-professional poker player can point out the blatant flaws in what a lot of MTC runners are doing, but most will keep doing the same training for another decade and never meeting their potential.
Now going viral on mainstream media Australia wide.
"Getting ‘chicked’: Sport’s ugly new term sparking fierce debate
An elite Australian runner has apologised after sparking fierce debate over comments he made about male athletes being “chicked” while competing."
Gotta feel a bit sorry for Ryan, as meant it tongue in cheek.
I really don't think Gregson said it tongue in cheek tho. I think he's from that era of men who think being beaten by a woman is truly shameful - I'm not Australian but I am British/Irish and I know people who have the same opinion as Gregson . Some of the stuff he posts on his instagram story is borderline, especially for an "elite" sponsored athlete.
I started running in 1970's and 'then' , although we didn't use the word 'chicked', we didn't feel great if a top female beat us, just another thing to make you work harder.
However, as an RD, event owner etc, and still a runner, these days it is simply said to 'rag' someone, without it having a 'shameful' aspect. we are in a different era, with different reasons to run, and getting beaten by a female doesn't mean that much anymore
cheers

This was awful, sneering audio. So was their non apology about "listening". Interestingly Tim and Liam's recap on their pod (Journeyman) made no mention of this rubbish. They were happy with their runs, because they're clearly not d&$kheads.
Agnes is an absolute gun, she'd wipe the floor with Gregson and there's no shame in that- she's world class and he's miles off.

Sounds like Ryan should question his education choices.
I'm a 'leftie' so to speak, but hate wokeness.
Gregson was far far better than any female ever in his prime event, the 1500m. He was elite in that event, and made some money out of it.
It is absolutely true that a male running slower times than a female for the same distance cannot be called elite in that distance, and if you choose to 'make a living' off competing at that distance then you will be struggling. I cannot see anyone with a 3:50 1500 PB being 'elite' or becoming professional only because of that.
Why can't that be said? It is an absolute objective fact. That doesn't mean it is 'shameful' to get beaten by a female better than you. Good grief, no wonder we are on a slippery slide to the fascist right.

So Aths NSW have posted a preview for this weekend's upcoming Sydney 10 and they've said the Nedd Brockman is running with the goal of breaking 31:30. Am I going crazy or is there absolutely nothing in any of his training that indicates he would be anywhere near 31:30 for 10km? His fastest 5km according to strava is 16:56.
If he's really going out at that pace, hopefully old man Brad Croker gives him a clip around the ears for being so silly.

Is there a stream?
I'm a big fan of Nedd's and he feels very genuine and nice. Plus brings attention to running so I'm for that. And it's actually interesting seeing him try these tough goals as he was never an elite runner so it will be cool to see if he can get there
Krisso has to be one of the most connected guys in the industry. I remember him saying several months ago Puma was gonna let go of heaps of athletes and fair enough he was right
good to see Jack heading to Kenya (if true) it’s what he needs he has the highest upside of all our distance athletes in my opinion
Nedd does bring good attention to the sport and I too am interested to see how he goes at moving into the elite ranks but calling him a 'legend' or 'great' like that athsnsw article did was a joke. Hope Unc Crokes absolutely smashes him.
Read below post. Ned is nowhere near 3:50 1500 and makes a pretty fair living I would say.
Did you read my comment? He does not make money from running 1,500m, does he? Nor from any official track or distance races. He makes money as a content creator doing stuff rarely attempted that ordinary people think are great. Just like all content creator.
They invite him to a 10km based on his following because people can relate to his experiences and put themselves 'in his shoes'
Show me an elite athlete that makes money on the track circuit with a PB slower than that of the female WR for those events, purely from running his specific event and no other fame. So yes, a bloke with that talent ceiling should be looking at other opportunities.
Yet the woke clowns here downvote a factual post.

This DL field is a lot stronger across the board than recent years in China. Probably because there's no major championship as a main focus and there's more incentive to maximise your ranking with Ultimate on top of DL Final
Honestly, I'm personally looking forward to the Jess vs Claudia rematch more than anything else, though I'm definitely not ruling out any of other our women being our second across the line. Lachie in the strongest field he's ever run in is a big one too
Wow serious field for Lachie Kennedy. Coleman, Bromell and Bednarek, Simbine, Tebogo and Omanyala. I hope they get +1 tailwind. Aussie record will go if Kennedy’s in the same shape ad he was at Nationals.
Assertive Jess Hull took prime position behind the pacer and then lead until about 1100m before running out of legs in the last 400m. Amazing finish by Abbey.
Impressive by Abbey. I feel like she's often in a way overlooked. Even at nationals she was impeded but that wasn't really spoken about enough with the Jess v Claudia drama. Saying that this race doesn't tell us much how the CG will go without pacers. Maybe Abbey is a fav.
Lachy that was a great run. Got the scalps of Coleman, Simbine and Tebego for 5th. That is a good list to beat.
