Why are there 33 pages on the shooting of a dude I've never heard of. Aren't dozens of people killed every day in America with guns?

That was a planned shooting. You don't just pick someone off like that. If law enforcement uses their brain they will realize they are looking for probably a military veteran expert marksman and a former long range sniper. Killer is definitely a Caucasian male between the ages of 45 to 60 years old.

Charlie thought empathy was a blight on this country. He thought it was a major problem. Also, he believed it's acceptable for there to be gun deaths, because we need to have the 2nd amendment.

Don't get ahead of yourself. Any good shot with basic army training and a rifle could hit a target from 200yd in good weather conditions. I know I did it even from 300yd and had basic training only. Also, most likely the aim was the head and the shooter missed slightly.

Didn't make it too far on this thread but this is my problem with the discourse on it. Gun violence is not partisan. It's not an opportunity to immediately look up the political affiliation of the shooter & claim it as victory for your side.

Political violence has no place anywhere. So obviously my thoughts are with him & his family. But this isn't an excuse not to talk about some of the problems that he, in part, advocated for. He said some gun violence deaths are necessary, every year, to preserve the 2nd amendment. I don't think he's right. I think we've let the NRA dictate our gun laws in a way every other major nation hasn't. Most people agree on common sense gun legislation. We allow one wealthy special interest group to prevent any minor changes & people keep dying in a way that doesn't happen in other countries. Why aren't we doing everything we can to prevent this stuff? This is an epidemic & continues to get treated as something normal, something that we have no power to do anything about. It's getting a little tired to continue to post thoughts & prayers & then argue about if the shooter was a D or R, like that really matters. It distracts us from the issue.

Yes. He is. And without any idea who the shooter was, he blamed the rhetoric of the left for the shooting. I'm not sure how promoting equal rights, affordable healthcare, clean air and renewable energy causes an assassination, but perhaps that just his complex "weave" that I'm not smart enough to follow. Never mind that nearly 100% of the mass shootings and assassinations in this country over the last 50 years have been perpetrated by conservative white males, because why let facts get in the way of a good argument.

I didn't like the guy and I disagreed with him on a lot of things, but he was just goofy to me.
I laughed when people made fun of him in a lighthearted way but I didn't hate him.
I didn't think of him as evil or malevolent.
I can't imagine anyone hating this dude enough to brutally murder him in front of his wife and children like that.
I do think between this and the poor Ukrainian women that we're going to see a shift in the Right.
It's clear to everyone now that the Left wants you on the bus with those monsters, they want to deprive you of the right to defend yourself from them, and they want to assassinate any public figures that are even remotely standing in their way.
