LOL One "science" guy calling out another "science" guy. I am so tired of that whole "science" thing in running when it's just hokuspokus to sell some coaching to people who don't need coaching.
Imagine that... smart, reasonable heat acclimation protocols rooted in literally hundreds of studies and decades of practice > running in heat suits and puffy jackets
With temperatures at Western States often soaring above 90 degrees, heat adaptation is essential. But how it’s done makes all the difference. Abby Hall didn’t wear a heat suit in training. She didn’t grind out treadmill sessions in a garage with the heater cranked. Instead, her heat strategy was grounded in physiology, precision and restraint without detracting from the quality of her training.
“Running around in heat suits is dumb, even for hot weather races,” Koop said. “All of the focus for Abby’s training was on her training, nutrition, hydration and heat mitigation/management.”

I agree although I do find it funny seeing the charlatans fighting each other over the high ground when it comes to advice. Sage Canaday, Jason Koop, and Roches were all caught up in the Spring Energy fiasco and Koop definitely won that round.
Koop also clearly won the battle over Western States elite coaching as his athlete took a win while Roche lost the 2nd and 7th place finishers from his roster on practically the eve of the race (though continues to falsely list them as SWAP athletes on his website, true to form).
I wonder how involved Abby is in these IG stories. It seems a little icky to me that Koop is seemingly using her amazing performance to criticize a rival coach. Support and celebrate your own athletes on their own merits, not as a "gotcha" against someone else.

I'm curious about this -- has it been confirmed anywhere that they're no longer on the roster?
Yeahh Megan talked about having heavy bleeding from her IUD and therefore having it removed. I'm totally ok with her sharing that. But then.. then David said something weird about making dolls (??) out of Megan's blood (???).. and later on out of her cervical mucus and I'm like YUCK WTF.
My god I loved it when they said that
not sure why the downvotes as women bleeding from their whatever is a natural park of life as GROW UP

I haven't seen any official public confirmation but the absence of any congratulations from David is good evidence that the rumors are true. You would think he would want to push some narrative of coaching success from Western States, or at least he almost always does with other athletes. Hell he's on Instagram hyping Jess' 200 meter repeats.

He also takes his sweet time to update his pages. he’s still practicing law at ELI per LinkedIn.

how does he have the time (and energy!) to both practice law and be a professional runner?

Yeah, I don't disagree, but to me this is a symptom that even other coaches are just so sick of DR's shtick that they're literally embarrassed for him and wish he'd just flat out stop coaching for fear that everyone will start to think that all elite ultrarunning coaches as hyper-sugared charlatans.
Koop always seems on the level. He does brings in guests that DO have crackpot ideas, but he takes the time to have a reasonable conversation with them to try to tease just WTF they're shilling and if there is any merit to it (and in what context). His recent podcasts break from a discussion to get alt. views from other coaches in the company -- or just try to explain the concepts for dumb dumbs like me, which I think is really a strong way to go about things.
David's lack of self-confidence in everything except crying "wolf" is a major contrast.
Can we also critique the “science” based coaches who charge hundreds and hundreds of dollars a month for something they can do themselves. They’re both grifters.

LOL while we're at it, the hell with RESTAURANTS with COOKS. Cook at home I say! Going out to eat must cost you hundreds of dollars a month! Grifters, all of them what with their creme-based sauces!
