Not a competitive meet and just a walk over for them. No other top teams went to DLS.
between jesuit ca's performance at de la salle when compared to menlo on friday sweepstakes, I would say Menlo had the better team performance. That's saying something for a d5 team with only 5 runners.
Walt Lange at Jesuit is one of the all time greatest HS coaches we have ever seen and he doesn’t make a lot of mistakes. But not taking this team to Woodbridge this year is one of them.

But they chose not to race in the sweeps, so their fans on here can speculate until Clovis how menlo is basically the US Olympic team
I feel like Walt is trying to play it safe and not let his runners peak early- he seems like the type of guy to not enter his team into a competitive race early into the season. However, Ogilvie has been gone the past two races- could he injured or sick, who knows
These rankings posted here will be less relevant in a couple of hours (when Woodbridge sweepstakes races are done), but I have to agree with the top 7 teams in the D1 boys SS rankings. Though those 7 teams might not be in that order, I think those are the 7 that will likely qualify for state from that section. Except we still need to see the full lineup from Millikan.
Owen Powell won Sweepstakes with 13:30. Noonan didn’t have a good day and ran 14:04. Definitely wasn’t a good a day for California. Top team in sweepstakes was Mira Costa in 8th place.
the girls did great. riley blade killed it and teams go 2-5
but the guys got wrecked teamwise and individual wise. wish connor lott, trey caldwell were in this individually to make us look a little bit better. they seem to be some of the top talent right now
I think I am going to checkout guys. I would usually follow girl races but only if I can follow guy races too. Probably will come back to support the california teams next xc season but it doesn't seem like it will be a good year teamwise. Dana Hills and San Clemente 2023 were the best teams we had and it doesn't seem like that will be replicable this season.
So what are the rankings looking like post Saturday carnage?
Woodbridge favorites got smacked around and might have gone out too fast given several teams outside Sweeps (Menlo and then some Rated teams) had equal or better races than the majority of the teams inside Sweeps.
Meanwhile Jesuit had a relatively peaceful weekend finishing business as expected. Are they the definitive number one now, is the hype real?

Hot take but I think it's still too early to call anyone the number one
Many of the top Norcal and Socal talents, especially on the guys side, haven't raced yet.
I think Menlo, which as far as I am aware, still has the #1 California team time from Woodbridge, has a serious argument for being #1 in CA.
Shoutout to Mountain View, who knocked out some pretty good out of state teams to win the rated race by a nice margin and likely would have been toe to toe with some of the best CA teams in sweepstakes.
What other invites are going on in CA this weekend besides the clown show that Woodbridge is?
If you are from CA and you aren’t at Woodbridge then you are at the wrong meet.
I think people in some areas of california still don't understand that woodbridge is a unique opportunity you have (locally) to compete against national level competition. The only other 2 races that provide this are NXN and Footlocker. We are extremely lucky to have a national level race in our backyard. And to not go and try to place top 20 if you are a fast individual is just leaving it up to footlocker and nxn at the end of the season. Who knows if you will be healthy, not sick, or have a good race then.
Mountain View (ccs) ran 1:14:24 to win the rated race and beat Oaks Christian.
And Los Gatos (ccs) ran rated but had their top runner in sweepstakes. Put him in and drop their 5th guy and their team time goes down by 1:45 to 1:14:52.

Oh my bad I thought this was one of the out of state Mountain View high schools. It's a pretty generic name. Yeah they dominated with a super close pack.
