The reason Rural, poor, white folks and senior citizens vote for Trump against their own self interest is because they are mesmerized by the culture war grievance stuff. You can see it in the interviews from Rallies to The Villages in Florida. Also, they rely on Fox News to decipher all that complex pesky policy stuff and tell them what is best.
This is why most all of the right wing policies are big losers in nationwide polls yet they still win elections.

There HAS to be accountability for the behaviors of our "leaders." Again, I'm certain if Biden , or Hillary, or Obama was indicated because of their illegal behavior most Dems wouldn't come to their defense. Not many out there were coming to Biden's defense when he admitted to having classified docs and when more docs were found in his garage. Can't say the same for Trump and his issues with the docs. What he did was way worse, and he will likely be indicated for that too here in the next few months. But the right have twisted themselves into pretezels defending Trump.
