I didn't say that Republicans overstated how bad the economy is. I said that Republicans OVERESTIMATED the degree to which voters FEEL the economy is bad in a way that influences how they vote.

I know. I said that they overstated how bad it was. You accused the democrats of overestimating how bad the economy is. Granted, that doesn't make any sense, but it's your conspiracy theory, not mine.
I mean, you guys keep making the argument that Republicans are failing at taking ground in a midterm election during a bad economy. I'm saying you can't compare the current state of the economy to that in previous midterms when there was undeniable economic pain across the population. There haven't been mass job losses .. yet.
sure if you ignore that the economy was the largest factor named it exit polls. Clearly there is inflation that the majority of people are dealing with in some way. (but by all means, just hand wave that away).
The vote should be clear. The republicans agenda is simply not as popular as you thought. Period, that's the story, that's the message. Between actually votes for politicians, reproductive rights and progressive ballot measures, most American are less conservative that you had hoped.
but , by all means, try out this "something something the economy is really good right now" line of thought

Job loses effect a small percentage of the population. Inflation effects everyone. Also, there is no evidence that mass job losses are likely to happen anytime soon.
Democrats overperformed in this election because the GOP decided that "woke" was a noun, adjective, and verb that was the answer to every question. From the outside, it often sounds like Republicans are speaking in tongues.

And i don't think their stance on abortion helped the Republicans. That was a biggie, with clear cut differences between opposing sides and lots of interest from the public.

Well too many of the Republicans seem to lack intelligence. For instance they say abortion is murder. But then they say leave it up to the states. So they want to leave it up to the states whether murder is permitted. It makes no sense. Then of course, a few of the national profile Republicans appear to belong in a psychiatric facility.

Yep. I think a lot of political types underestimate how popular the Roe status quo was. Roe was messy and a compromise, but it lined up with the beliefs of the majority of voters.
democrats spent 40+ million backing far right trump republicans. They wanted to raise the voices of election deniers because they knew it would turn off the American voter.
Even if I were a Democrat, I think I'd be against this. It feels immoral to me.
And impractical. It may have "worked" this time, but if they keep this up it's going to bite them in the behind.
This tactic, or at least something similar, is why Trump became president. A lot of Democrats were pulling for Trump in the 2016 primaries because they thought he was unelectable. Left-leaning media couldn't stop talking about him.
Yes it is. There's no federal law banning murder, a state could legalize it if they chose. That's how almost all laws work in this country.
Of course there is a federal murder statute. You are incorrect. Now it is true that this federal murder statute does not cover all cases of murder but there is a federal murder statute. There is also the common law which makes murder a crime. Congress also has the power to override a state which attempts to legalize murder, as the Commerce Clause allows Congress to regulate commerce among the “several states,” which would undoubtedly override a state’s ability to legalize murder.

What Reuplican agenda is that? A lot of Rs have turned into whiny conspiracy theorists and maybe that schtick is just getting tiresome. People just want some normalcy.
