Seth wants an upper middle class lifestyle with vacations in Mexican resorts, that's fine, his choice. He was much nicer and humbler years ago which made him quite likable.
Also his choice to make outrageous Snake Oil salesman claims about KT Tape making your daily runs faster if you just slap a racing stripe on your lower legs. I'll bet KT Tape will not stand by those claims or endorse them. Tempted to find out.
Hoodwinking your "DGR Family" to use KT Tape off label as a daily speed enhancer all while clicking your affiliate link is just not how you treat "family". You don't encourage them to burn through hard earned money like that on something that has no basis to even speculate that 2 strips down your leg make you "faster". How many rolls of KT tape would you go through anyway making it a daily thing? We have to pay for it Seth, you do not.
You can "feed your family" as a sponsored youtuber without such shady tactics.
Seth can view such criticism as something to at least mull over, or he can take on a Martyr complex and think he's being persecuted, likely because he's practically a Saint. Another choice to make.
There was a YouTuber I watched a while back called Triathlon Taren. To begin with, he was very likable and relatable. However, overtime he began to push all kinds of snake oil type products. Basically if you would pay him, he would shill your products. He also had some success in the sport and then suffered quite the burnout. He has since pivoted to more life coaching and general wellness type information as he lost his viewership in the triathlon community.
SJD seems to be going down the same path as Taren. Start out as a relatable guy and then start to have some YouTube success, which eventually leads to losing the pulse of what made you successful to begin with.
It’s synonymous with a politician believing their own press and not listening to any of the criticisms. Deleting critical comments from your YouTube videos is a symptom of this.
SJD would do well to take some of the criticism he’s getting and reflect on it. You have to be flexible and adaptable to survive in the profession he has chose to be in.
