Levon is the bomb, though. Robbie Robertson got the spotlight but Levon holds his own, for sure.

Luke Bryan does a respectful rendition of Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car” and it is labeled cultural appropriation. Reality is those that label it are awful people, largely lunatics, bent on racial division. Same people that would have any problem with the Band song even written today.

Speaking of John Prine, I just heard mention that a very good weekly Music show you may be familiar with - Sound Opinions - is doing a segment in their upcoming show on him. They said it will be a classic album dissection on his first album, and they described his writing as "poetic" in a very real sense of the word. GDP surged in the 2H2023, not fell. Although the 4Q is soft, no doubt.
So Burry would still be right, though early, if the current 4Q slowdown turns into a recession that requires more Fed and gummint stimulation.

Grantham is the wrongest predictor in the universe, methinks.
Here he is in Jan 2023 predicting at best SP500 2500. We're at 4600ish. That's a heck of a miss, to paraphrase Grantham himself. I would sigh but the guy is famous for, in the aftermath of the financial crisis, putting his kids money into emerging market stocks because the West was doomed. That money has made very little if anything while the US has rocketed. Puts a point on it - how fear and bad financial decisions can hurt many lives. I mean Americans would virtually all be born millionaires if their parents and grandparents had saved 10% of their pay into a 401k and worked for 45 years. They didn't - they are too afraid, it was the wrong time.

Will be very interesting to see how stocks react to this. My thesis is that stocks are looking for signs we are not falling into recession. If so, this strong report should be taken ok by stocks.
the difference is that up until recently good news was bad for stocks because it was viewed as inflationary. But inflation is over and we are on inflation watch now. I think, anyway.
These switches are hard to predict and messy but money can be made if you are early to the change instead of late.

yeah there's a lot of bitterness toward RR. I think the best answer is that RR did write the songs, but could not have done so without the influence and help of bandmates. So RR should have taken care of them better, incl Levon. But RR didn't, he broke up the band and was a jerk.

Here is Jeremy Grantham doubling down on stupid. Agip noted how he, at the beginning of the year, was predicting at best an S & P of 2500. Well just a few weeks ago he has an even more pessimistic view of the market. He says their is a possibility that the S & P might go from 4600 down to 2000. This clown doesn't even acknowledge how wrong he was on his beginning of the year prediction. And I am pretty sure in a few months when the S & P is up around 5000 he will be saying it might go down to 1500. Never be a clown like this guy.

A segment on NPR News Morning Edition talked about Spotify Wrap, and how effective it is doing exactly what you were talking about. Makes sense, and another example of tech getting smarter and being ingrained in our lives.
Spotify Wrapped endures despite privacy concerns surrounding the data it collects from users. But experts say our continued excitement around the year-end aggregation is in our human nature.

Those who pontificate about the stock market are never to be listened to...not those here who do it, and not those who do it for a living. It's all a crapshoot and BS. Invest the money you don't need today so that when your household no longer has income, you will have money to spend. That's it. The long game is the only game to play, and you do that regardless of what ANYONE says about the future.
