There is always something like at least a 10-20% probability for 1 year out, but they are seeing so many strong economic indicators that they just can't see it happening.

Questioning the news is healthy because there is often a slant. The wise can recognize the slant and pick out the facts. Unfortunately, many say they question, but in actuality they believe only the side they like and refuse to believe even clearly verfiable facts when they don't like them.
Example: Trump never said "Lock her up" about H. Clinton. It was repeated in this thread. There are videos of him doing it multiple times, posted here, yet those posters still argue he didn't say it.
That is not questioning, that is ignoring obvious facts.
