Thank you very much 👍 it hurt to not race through the summer but I knew a break from racing and getting some decent threshold mileage logged would benefit me in the autumn/fall. The boring stuff works, clearly!
He was incredible when I messaged him about doing a video on his training. He was very open to sharing it all and I had some good communication with him then. We still communicate quite regularly now as well but I haven’t don’t a live stream in years… I feel like I need to finish my marathon block and get into winter training before teaming up with him again so that I can get a few months done 👍
Phily's latest video 'How Pro Runners REALLY Tackle the Sunday Long Run' is really one of her worst. Yoga mats for the roadside warm-up, a Tesla handing them bottles, talking up the hilliness of the run - I checked her Strava and it was 296m elevation gain - and the one woman saying women (seeming to put herself in this bracket) have it harder than the elite men because the men are only out there for 2 hours. I'm sorry but these women have far more in common with the 2:15 sub-elite marathoner than the elite 2:03 marathoner. Although shout-out to woman that said she runs better when drinking beer.
Maybe Phily should study how the non-pro runners tackle the Sunday long run. Plenty of blokes that will never make a dollar from running and doing similar or more mileage around their 9-5 job and could drop her in a race. You can talk about male v female genetic advantage all you want, but what Phily shares on her YouTube shows me that she isn't training as hard or as smart as most sub-elite guys (minus the idiot YouTube ones).

Agreed, it was toe-curlingly bad. As someone above mentioned, it's worth a watch in the same way a horror movie has some appeal.
Who, over the age of 20, has a “besti”, let alone brings them along in a Tesla on a long run? She’s possibly more annoying than Phily tough, which may suggest why they had her in the video. Moreover, why do you need a crew in the said Tesla following and handing you water bottles when you are doing a conversation run more than a minute slower than marathon pace?
Finally, mocking Rory Linkletter’s ego and saying women have it harder - WTF. The fact that Phily can claim pro-running status and the 11th fastest time “ever” in the UK, despite never having run an internationally competitive time, would suggest otherwise.
Despite how small my channel is I do regularly get companies reaching out asking me to advertise their products. Largely I say no.
On occasions though the product might be something that I genuinely want to try, or am already in the market for, so I take it and make short slot in a video covering it.
I can't say that it ever takes much of my time to include these parts.
Also I ensure that the company that sends me something isn't bending me over, nor telling me what to say. If I don't have the freedom to give my own view, I say no. I have had companies asking me to say specific things about their product - but I have never accepted them.
Ultimately we are very cheap marketing for them and, on occasion, it might add some value to the viewer (or it might not). 😊
All product offers I receive are done so organically, the companies reach out to me via email normally. I haven't registered on a website for this to happen.
I tend to receive a lot of offers of products that I simply wouldn't ever want/need, so do turn down a lot. I only accept them if I see a genuine use case for myself.
Does someone here watches John Heymans? I recently found him and I think his content is cool. He does regular uploads too.
Yes I follow his channel, he was a 5000m Olympic finalist in Paris for Belgium and a fellow countryman. It's nice to see some behind the scenes from Tokyo.

Great to hear sirpoc is a good guy and willing to share. Running world is full of POS'S so I'm glad to hear he's not one of them, clearly you aren't either. I'll add what the other dude said, there's so many garbage live streams if you ever did it, genuinely think it would make great hobby joggers content if based on your using the method you did something live and got him on. Thid is coming from someone who in general absolutely hated YT content from just about everyone but even id log on.

I know punching down is the thing here, but to be clear - you absolutely need fluids going 20+ at 7k feet, even if its an easier pace. And there is none of to be found on any of those dirt roads around Flag.
Cole is apparently still running Berlin. What an absolutely appalling decision. Who is guiding this young man?
Nothing to gain at all, quite a lot to lose. He could be heading for a major setback (again)
Its decisions like this that make you realise why these people take the Youtube route to make money - They just aint that bright
I didn't read it as that at all. I'm certain he meant he's going in a promotional capacity.
He literally can barely run. He might be enthusiastic but he's not dumb.
"Still really looking forward to Berlin, and perhaps this takes the pressure off and gives me the chance to enjoy an international marathon a bit more"
^ I can't wait for Matt Rees to completely miss his target at Berlin and then just not post anything about it for months. The guy only uploads when things go well.
