No, the intern got the men's job, so the women are leaving. Gotcha.

Coach Neal to Furman as assistant.

"Intern"? Or Interim Head Coach?
Ann Detmer left to get back into competing. Cal has not made their hire. They are still deciding but it will be a female.

Next?

Cal is staying in the same direction hence another young female coming in.
Detmer is going in a different direction. She did a great job helping Sandoval get that womens program going.
All true.
And Sandoval is at the end of his 5 year contract.
what is the inside info on the UNC job? Closing the deal this weekend?
Is this true?!
Rumor is they want to hire a men's coach but he might have some NCAA violations in the closet that might come out. Another mistake by the AD.
So, how close will the OSU track salary be to Urban's $4.44 million with 500,000 of potential bonuses? And will the track coach get a 6 year contract?

Unemployedblonde,
Hard for me to believe anyone that says "skinny distance boys (using the word boys especially)" has an "experienced filled resume." You sound like a stuck up young rich girl thats been taken care of all your life and now in the early years of your coaching career you find out you can't always get what you want.
My advice to you. Look around this summer. You will see plenty of young females getting jobs at big time programs. It's already happening. I know plenty of "skinny distance boys" out there much more qualified that can out coach, recruit and perform. But here is the real truth. Now listen carefully blonde. Your pretty looks and who you know will get you the interview. But you will get exposed. Once people find out how annoying and/or airheaded you actually are, that's a big turn off. Think about it. 30+ jobs. Something is not right.
I'm not sure how using the term "skinny distance boys" connects the experience of my resume to the situation, but go ahead and build yourself up by "tearing me down." I come from a single income family (HS teacher in the public school system). Hardly classified as even middle class. But thanks for your assumption. I ran and worked my way through undergrad/grad and have a Masters in ExPhys. You must have a PhD in psychology from Phoenix online the way you analyzed me. Congratulations.
I used "skinny distance runners" just to point out a common phenomenon in our field. So many male distance runners want to be distance coaches. The end. It is much more rare to find a female who wants to do this job. Therefore I have an advantage. I also have the advantage because I have experience coaching other events as well, so I am not tied down by solely distance events (but prefer it). Sorry for offending the 99% of you reading this thread.
I am neither air-headed nor annoying (I guess you'll just have to trust me on this one). I never once mentioned that I was pretty. You made that assumption all on your own, Mr. PhD. Being pretty has nothing to do with the situation I am in, which is ONE on-campus interview. I am hoping my personality, planning, and experience win over the staff. I've never gotten anything based on looks & don't plan on ever accepting something given to me because of them either. I've also applied to jobs that I probably shouldn't have (sorry that you're apparently disgusted by the # gave), but figure it's always worth a shot.
Lord, no wonder females rarely post on here. You white skinny distance boys have nothing better to do but sit at your computers all alone and wonder why you don't have a girlfriend; all-the-while making fun of girls online, to make yourself feel better. Go ahead and pick my post apart and call me names, I have a job interview to prepare for :)

And has been renewed for 4 more years....

Please do not ever post again. You are an embarrassment to all coaches, not just female coaches. For the sake of the future of America I hope no one as childish as you is ever given the opportunity to work with any young adults/children. It is probably unfortunate your looks haven't gotten you a job because your personality sure doesn't seem like your best asset.
I was talking about the men on the team leaving. Not Women
I don't care about you women and your title IX I want equal rights hoopla get out of here and start your own thread if you want to talk about your stupid whiney issues and leave this to people getting jobs and the job openings
You need to f-ing go back to something like the 1980 Coaching Openings to continue your point. That is how far back your crap goes. No one f-ing cares. This is 2012 Coaching Openings...
What jobs are open in 2012? And who is filling them?
Otherwise, make a new post for your whining about how to get a job. Or shut up.
watson to uk. a release will come by the end of the week
why is it so hard just to get a volunteer job to get some experience to work your way up in this college coaching industry? I just don't understand why a team wouldn't want a hard working eager person to help coach their team for FREE. I just don't get it....
To female coach with a job: I appreciate your well thought out response. I am a male who is currently a college head coach full time and I think you hit the nail on the head with most of your points. You know you have a little advantage in the job market you use it plain and simple. We all do. Is there a better feeling in the world than knowing going into a job app or interview that you have something that gives you a little extra shot at that job? We all want and try to get it. So bravo to you for being honest with yourself, taking advantage of your opportunities and getting the career you want.

The NCAA limits the amount of volunteers you are allowed to have. You can only have three per gender. So for some bigger programs you do have to turn away volunteers. I know we turn away several each year. It is too bad because that is how I got into Division 1 coaching myself.
If you're having trouble finding a volunteer position, you haven't asked enough coaches. There are plenty of schools that aren't near their limit. You might just need to expand your search to some smaller schools.
D3 schools have no limits on the number of coaches they can have. I've seen some schools having up in the teens for coaching staffs. So, you have to call these schools and see what's available.
