I mean come on. Dig a little deeper. The American political system doesn't respond well to massive shocks like trump or a warren/sanders. It won't do the things they are promising.
The country works best when Ds and Rs aren't that far apart and can get bills passed. Not when one side puts up a super aggressive agenda that pushes the other into a corner and obstructs everything.

Your thesis is that we can't really get anything done. That is not acceptable. Climate change alone will destroy this nation if we don't address it.
And why did you change the examples I cited?
Would a liberal solve climate change? Yes.
Would a liberal solve the border crisis? Yes.
Would a liberal solve the student debt crisis? Yes.
Would a liberal push for a living wage? Yes.
Would a liberal address money in politics? Yes.
The answer to all of those is "Yes". We have done big things before and we can do them again. It's not easy, but it can be done.
And when the pendulum swings hard in one direction, it swings back hard in the other direction. Ironically, Tiny has created the catalyst for the progressive movement to really take off.
I don't understand why you would want to go back to politics as usual.

short answer: a radical left agenda will not get through congress and then all those crises will just be owned by the dems rather than the Rs.

if you want things done, unless you have the house, 60 votes in the senate and the WH, you need to find common ground. the common ground moderates can find.

I'm not a big believer in big government power running amok in the nation. The genius of the US is that power is devolved away from DC to the states and localities. That has not always been good (HELLO FORMER CONFEDERATE STATES, YA BUNCHA UNAMERICAN LOSERS), but it has kept the nation strong.

I'm not a big believer in one admin doing something giant, then the next admin running in the opposite direction. That is not good for the nation.

I mean I can answer longer but I need to go run before some t storms.

my son is making $15 for low skilled labor already, and he's still in college

he's making $15 now without a college degree, so my point stands, even after inflation.

the bigger point is that living standards in this country are higher than they were a generation or two ago - don't let anecdote change your view, and don't believe those ridiculous 'wages have gone nowhere for 40 years' stories.

Cheating is cheating. If cheating happens again in 2020 (as it did in 2016), and Trump wins, then the cheating negates my claim. When an athlete is stripped of his Olympic medal because he tested positive for a PED, they don't have to PROVE that his cheating is what made him win that medal. The simple fact of the cheating stripped him of his victory.

I never choose my words to make it so that I will be right no matter what. I reject that there is always trivial inconsequential illegal activity attached to all Presidential elections.

I am fair 100% of the time. Trump cheated in 2016 with FELONIES aimed directly at winning the election. These weren't inconsequential...they were specific and again, FELONIES that Michael Cohen is spending time in jail for. If there is something inconsequential but also illegal that just happened to occur due to oversight or accounting error or some other such thing, I will be fair and not count that. I am fair because I have 100% integrity 100% of the time.

With the proper exceptions noted, Trump has ZERO chance to win again in 2020.

I get your point, but the current congress is divided and it still gets nothing done.

The only way to actually solve the big problems is to get control of both houses, the presidency, and probably get rid of the filibuster.

I've always been for keeping the filibuster, but I'm starting to think that the current circumstances may warrant its demise.

the good news on trump is that while he repeatedly threatens to break the constitution, in the end he has followed the courts' rulings. Sure, Rs are shamed forever for looking the other way, but so far our fat would be dictator hasn't disobeyed court orders.

The tax return thing will be interesting tho. I mean this is clearcut - treasury has to hand the returns over. but that would be so embarassing to trump. will that be the breaking point and he goes revolutionary?

I’m convinced the numbers are stacked against him but still trying to come to terms with how much of an advantage he has as POTUS and with Twitter. My gut says he can easily blow this and get wiped out, but it is too early to tell.

There will be a green party and probably an independent candidate to appear on the ballot to siphon votes from the Dem nominee on Election Day. This will help Trump win again.

Making illegal aliens first is a guaranteed loss for you.
